TODAY'S QUOTE

Beauty is the gift of God

HAPPY TUESDAY !

We had partly clear skies yesterday morning and the full moon was beautiful. Lighting up the sky like a morning sunrise. By evening the clouds moved in with what looked to be rain showers, but by afternoon today the sun is supposed to be back out. We have temps now with a high in the mid 60’s. Maybe I’ll see that full moon again this evening !

Son # 6 is off on a business trip this week, so please join me in praying for a safe trip for him.

In one of my morning devotions I found the first key to being ‘happy’ at work. It was not only in one of my readings, but the second one had the same advice! Here is what I found.

Treasure my own creativity!

1. Every single one of us is creative in some way. From an early age we have understood that creativity is only for the elite. It is true a select few will shine in all types of sport, music, art and so on. But if we put these people on a pedestal, to the exclusion of everyone else, we can kill off the creative gifts that are to be found in the rest of us

2. Watching how others have coped with what's troubling us now, we take heart from their creativity, Lord, knowing you will inspire us, too, to find innovative ways to move on

Now I have to apply that gift everyday!

I hope you all will too!

Have a great day ! Another wonderful one on the Way

TODAY IS...WATCH A SQUIRREL DAY

The Grey Squirrel has been traced back 50 million years. It is a rodent about fifteen inches long that weighs around one pound. Its diet consists of nuts, seeds and fruit. Their life span is six years, but most squirrels inside the cities don't reach their first birthday. This is not because of predators - they are usually killed by automobiles.

Squirrels want their own cross-walks

TODAY'S SMILE

A number of years ago a freshman at Eagle Rock Junior High won first prize at the Greater Idaho Falls Science Fair. He was attempting to show how conditioned we have become to alarmists practicing junk science and spreading fear of everything in our environment.

In his project he urged people to sign a petition demanding strict control or total elimination of the chemical "dihydrogen monoxide." And, for plenty of good reasons, since:

1. it can cause excessive sweating and vomiting

2. it is a major component in acid rain

3. it can cause severe burns in its gaseous state

4. accidental inhalation can kill you

5. it contributes to erosion

6. it decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes

7. it has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients

He asked 50 people if they supported a ban of the chemical.

Forty three (43) said yes, six (6) were undecided, and only one (1) knew that the chemical was.

Dihydrogen monoxide is water!

The title of his prize winning project:

How Gullible Are We

TODAY'S REFLECTION

You’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious – the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly ...

 Philippians 4:8

The Message

Are our media outlets correct that America is a cesspool of corrupt politicians, incompetent leadership, racist citizens, and selfishness? Mmm. Okay, there’s a lot of that hateful stuff. But there’s much more that’s good that they’ve missed.

Generous Americans gave $700 million to the Red Cross and another $55 million to the Salvation Army in just two weeks. Thousands of unpaid volunteers manned shelters, cooked food, and cried with scared people. As soon as they could, thousands more trucked in donated supplies, sent crews of people with chain saws and shovels to help clean up, and opened their homes to evacuees.

Predominantly black churches sheltered white people whose homes had been destroyed. Majority white churches took in Latinos and African Americans. A rabbi and a preacher drove in a truckload of supplies donated by their synagogue and evangelical church.

Muslims, Christians, atheists, conservatives, liberals -- a coalition of goodwill of compassion has displayed the best in human nature. Little kids emptied piggy banks. Elderly people sacrificed from fixed incomes. Corporations gave huge checks. Offices collected small amounts. Schools accepted children without the normal paperwork.

People didn’t really care if the person benefiting from their efforts were Democrat or Republican, Baptist or Catholic, rich or poor in pre-disaster times. They stepped up to help.

As the blame games and posturing continue, let your focus be on the good things you see. Watch for things that reflect love and concern and sacrifice. Look for local stories of school children or church groups who are creative in kindness.

TODAY'S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER'S ALMANAC

Many cares make the head white

St. Luke's Little Summer.

A period of summerlike days that occur around October 18, named to honor the saint's feast day. In olden days, St. Luke's Day didnot receive as much attention in the secular world as St. John's Day (June 24) and Michaelmas (September 29), so to keep from being forgotten, St. Luke presented us with some golden days to cherish before the coming of winter--or so the story goes.

Some folks call this Indian Summer, but that officially occurs between November 11 and November 20.

 64 DAYS UNTIL WINTER

Delight yourself in the Lord and

He will give you the desires of your Heart

Psalm 37:4

I Love You All !!!

Be Blessed !!!
