TODAY’S QUOTE

HAPPY MONDAY !!

BACK TO WORK !

Here is our weather forecast Monday (24 hours): Times of sun and clouds. Highs in the mid 70s and lows in the low 50s. Except for maybe a few showers Monday and Thursday, It looks like we’ll be pretty much the same all week.

After work today I have another dental appointment which will be the final fitting for the replacement partial I’ll be getting. I had this appointment last Monday and forgot about it, so today I must remember.

On Thursday evening, our Church is starting a new Bible study that I’m going to try and attend . I’m looking forward to this work week as it will be another short one. I’m taking Friday off from work as I need to get my beagle settled in at the doggie hotel at the vet’s office and we’ll be leaving for the hotel we’re staying in for my nephew’s wedding about 2 o’clock or so.

It’s going to be a great week !

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY’S SMILE

The story is told (I believe it to be a true one) of a young man who was working under the hood of his Model T Ford, trying in vain to make it run. After a long time, in which he had had no success, a fine automobile stopped beside him.

A well-dressed man stepped out, went over to the young man, and, sensing his difficulty, told the would-be mechanic to make a certain minor adjustment in the timing of the motor.

Rather reluctantly, the young man did so. "Now," said the man, "your car will run." With a turn of the crank the motor started running like that of a new car. Surprised that such a man should know about machinery, the young man said, "But how is it that you know just what to do to my car to make it run? Who are you?"

Quietly the other said, "I'm Henry Ford. I made the car.

TODAY’S WORD

precipice \PRES-uh-pis\, noun:

1. A very steep, perpendicular, or overhanging place; a cliff. 2. The brink of a hazardous situation.

Barbara got as close to the edge as she dared and looked down over the precipice.

Precipice comes from Latin praecipitium, "a precipice," from praeceps, praecipit-, "with head before, headlong, steep," from prae, "before" + caput, "the head."

TODAY’S REFLECTION

But your assistant, Joshua son of Nun, will ente [the Promised Land. Encourage him, because he will lead Israel to inherit it.

Deuteronomy 1:38

Young Joshua needed encouragement, for he had a huge responsibility being placed upon him. Although God was pleased with what Joshua had done so far, he was really asking Moses to affirm the kind of man Joshua was.

This kind of encouragement spurred Joshua on to do the monumental task assigned to him. It doesn't matter how important we are or how unimportant, each of us appreciates someone else's belief and confidence in us.

You never know when you will have an opportunity to encourage those who have never reached their potential by giving them that vote of approval called "affirmation." Knowing that someone they respect believes in them can give them the edge needed to spur them on to greater accomplishments.

HAPPY SUPER SATURDAY !!

After a few cups of that good coffee this morning I’m heading south to the birthday party. I wish the trip wasn’t so long. I’ve got myself and the beagle all packed up and we’re ready to go. The cats and the bird will be on their own til I return tomorrow. They are much more independent and can do quite well by themselves for that long.

I won’t be sending out my e-mail til afternoon tomorrow as I won’t be home til around lunch time. The trip is just too long to do it there and back in the same day. I have done it before, but there is no need to push myself so I’ll stay overnight.

The feast of St. Michael the Archangel

Honoring the prince of guardian angels

It is said that if you eat goose today you’ll not want for money the next year

Michaelmas continues to serve as a seasonal signpost. In the British Isles, crops were harvested and sold by late September, and farmers paid their yearly rent on Michaelmas. Everyone ate goose at Michaelmas to bring prosperity, so many included "a goose fit for the lord's dinner" with their payment. Market fairs occurred on the feast day, and large crowds made it convenient to hold elections then as well. The custom of fall elections has continued, but today they have shifted to November

TODAY’S SMILE

We become vulnerable when we love people and go out of our way to help them.

That’s what the wealthy industrialist Charles Schwab declared after going to court and winning a nuisance suit at age 70.

Given permission by the judge to speak to the audience, he made the following statement: "I’d like to say here in a court of law, and speaking as an old man, that nine-tenths of my troubles are traceable to my being kind to others.

Look, you young people, if you want to steer away from trouble, be hard-boiled. Be quick with a good loud no to anyone and everyone. If you follow this rule, you will seldom be bothered as you tread life’s pathway.

Except you’ll have no friends, you’ll be lonely, and you won’t have any fun!

Schwab had made his point -- love may bring heartache, but it’s worth it!

TODAY’S REFLECTION

We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us.

Romans 12:6

It is important for us to understand that each of us had different gifts, and it is important that we use well the gifts we God has given to us. There are no superstars in God's work. In God's perfect plan for the world each of us have different talents, interests and abilities.

Not all of us can be teachers. Who would feed or clothe us? Whom would we teach? Not all of us can be farmers. Who would bandage our wounds when we are hurt? Our world functions as smoothly as it does because God has gifted us in unique ways.

So it is with the work of the Kingdom. Each of us has a different spiritual gift. When we all use our gifts as God intends, then the world is blessed and our own lives are enriched

Each of us has different gifts. The key to successful living is not to grieve over the gifts we do not have, but to take those we do have and use them in honoring God.

TODAY IS…St. Wenceslas’ Feast Day

Also known as BEER DAY

Saint Wenceslas (b. 907, d. 929) promoted the spread of Christianity in Czechoslovakia. Wenceslas became famous through a Christmas carol by J.M. Neale, "Good King Wenceslas", which has little to do with history but more with Victorian ideals.

Because Bohemian hops were so valued, Wenceslas ordered the death penalty for anyone caught exporting the cuttings and obviously endeared himself to the local hop growers and brewers. He became the patron saint of Bohemia and Czechoslovakia and his crown became the symbol of nationalism for the Czechs. By extension he became a patron saint of Czech brewers.

A poor man who lived in the country broke his leg in an accident... That meant he was laid up for a long while, unable to work. His family was large and needed help.

Someone got up a prayer meeting at the church to pray for this family. While the people were praying and asking God to help the family, there was a loud knock on the church door.

Someone tiptoed to the door, opened it, and there stood a young farm boy who said, "My dad could not attend the prayer meeting tonight, so he just sent his prayers in a wagon."

And there was the wagon loaded with meat, potatoes, apples, and other things from the farm.

indigence \IN-dih-juhn(t)s\, noun:

TODAY’S REFLECTION

I complained and my spirit was overwhelmed.

Lamentations 3:39b

Jeremiah has been called "the weeping prophet," and in his book of Lamentations, he wrote today's scripture. This is certainly true, for when we complain, we look at the dark side of life and we can become overwhelmed and miserable.

Life is a wonderful gift from God and we can make the most of it when we continually thank God and enjoy life to the fullest. Happiness is a feeling that depends on what is happening. Joy is an attitude that one can have in the midst of sorrow, dread or anxiety. When you surrender your life to Christ, you know that he will carry you through whatever life brings and you can be filled with joy

HAPPY THURSDAY !!

Rain Rain go away …

We had some good downpours yesterday and are supposed to get a few more today. But many in our country are still in draught conditions. One of my friends on line said that in Kentucky even the weeds are dying due to lack of rain, it is so bad there. I do pray they get some needed rain soon.

Our Newlyweds are now officially homeowners and I wish them nothing but happiness in their new home. They won’t be moving til the end of next month sometime and will now be busy packing.

Today is the last day of this work week ! Hurray ! I really hate to waste a vacation day by catching up at home, but it is badly needed here, so that’s what I’ll be doing tomorrow. Of course I might just have to make a little run out somewhere, just to give myself a break too ! We’ll see…

My friend’s great granddaughter that we have been praying for is in the hospital again. She was having breathing problems and had to have a tracheotomy. Since she is so young, she has all the potential in the world to grow and when she grows everything internally grows along with her meaning that her airway will get bigger enabling her to breathe normally. Please continue to pray for this little one, she’ll be in the hospital for about 3 more weeks.. Her parents are so very grateful for all the prayers .

I’m praying too for one of my own little grand ‘babes’, that has been having a lot of sinus problems. May our dear Lord bless her with healing and a return of her appetite. Her Mom and Dad say that when she cannot smell her food, she will not eat it.

While doing research for a doctoral thesis, a young man spent a year with a group of Navajo Indians on a reservation in the Southwest. He lived with one family, sleeping in their hut, eating their food, working with them, and generally living their life.

The grandmother of the family spoke no English, yet a very close friendship formed between the grandmother and the doctoral student. They seemed to share the common language of love and they intuitively understood each other.

Over the months he learned a few phrases of Navajo, and she picked up words and phrases in English. When it was time for the young man to return to the university and write his thesis, the tribe held a going-away celebration for him.

It was marked by sadness since he had developed a close relationship with all those in the village. As he prepared to get into his pickup truck and drive away, the old grandmother came to tell him goodbye. With tears streaming from her eyes, she placed her hands on either side of his face, looked directly into his eyes, and said,

"I like me best when I'm with you."

TODAY IS…ACORN SQUASH DAY

Now, who thought of the name "squash"? It sounds like what happens when you step on a bug. But, even with that name, acorn squash is a delicious, sweet vegetable. It's also called winter squash - not because it grows in the winter, but because it lasts all winter if it's stored in a cool, dry place. This is because the skin is so much thicker than a summer squash like zucchini

STUFFED ACORN SQUASH

2 acorn squash (1 to 1 1/2 lbs each)

1 large, tart red apple, diced

2 tablespoons chopped nuts

2 tablespoons packed brown sugar

1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted

1. Heat over to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 2. Cut each squash in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds and fibers. Place the squash with the cut side up in an ungreased pan. Bake for 30 minutes. 3. In a small mixing bowl, combine the apple, nuts, brown sugar and melted butter. Spoon this mixture into the squash halves. 4. Return the squash to the over and continue baking for 30 minutes longer - or until the squash is tender.

TODAY’S SMILE

There was a policeman sitting in a great hiding place, behind a billboard one day, waiting for his speeder. He waited several hours and no one came zipping by. His patience was soon rewarded, however, when a young man flew by in his sports car.

The policeman pulled him over, sauntered up to the driver's window, and with a flashy smile said, "Son, I've been waiting for you all day!"

Without hesitating, the young man answered, "I got here as quick as I could sir!"

After laughing himself silly, the policeman let him go!

TODAY’S WORD

noisome \NOY-sum\, adjective:

1. Noxious; harmful; unwholesome.

2. Offensive to the smell or other senses; disgusting.

Noisome is from Middle English noysome, from noy, "harm," short for anoy, from Old French, from anoier, "to annoy."

TODAY’S REFLECTION

And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Romans 5:5 .

Maybe you’re in a marriage that’s got you thinking, “What’s the use?” Or maybe you’re facing health issues, thinking, “What’s the use?” Or perhaps you’re in a frustrating job, facing a difficult family issue, wondering if you’ll ever get good enough grades to graduate, dealing with the gut-wrenching death of the most important person in your life, or feeling hopeless after so many attempts to have a baby.

The truth is that we serve a God of hope, and it’s a hope that will not disappoint (Romans 5:5). It’s not a hope based on feeling; rather, it’s a hope deeply rooted in a relationship with the One Who Can Be Trusted Above All Others.

It doesn’t mean you’ll get everything you want, but it does mean God is working in your life, bringing you to a future hope and a holy healing (Jeremiah 29:11). Let us wait together patiently for this unseen hope that we do not hold yet in our hands, knowing, in faith, that our God of Hope will not abandon us or leave us disappointed.

Ask yourself, “Where in my life am I saying, ‘What’s the use? I might as well not even try?’” Ask God to give you hope in that area of your life – and believe, in faith, that he will!

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Nothing can be more useful to you than a determination not to be hurried.

Henry David Thoreau

TODAY’S ACTION

Enjoy each age of your life.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Every human being is intended to have a character of his own; to be what no other is, and to do what no other can do.

HAPPY TUESDAY !!

Fall is acting like Summer around here so far. It was in the mid 80’s yesterday and will be a little warmer yet today. Then we have some rain coming in Wednesday and Thursday which will make it much cooler.

Tonight is our dulcimer get together. Next month we start Christmas songs, but for now we’ll be sticking to our folksongs and hymns that we love so much. Of course there will be a few laughs too, we usually have lots of those.

DDIL#6 passed this e-mail address my way. It is for our troops in Iraq . Apparently many are not getting any mail from home, so they are collecting e-mail letters to the troops and are hoping for lots to pass out at Christmas time. They feel moral is down due to bad press and are trying to get a lot of positive responses for our men and women in Iraq. So if you would like to write and help boost their moral, please send a letter from home to: RCT-6lettersfromh@gcemnf-wiraq.usmc.mil

I know I’ll be sending more than one for sure.

I have a request for prayers for DDIL#6’s Great Grandmother too as she is not doing well and #6’s Grandmother and Aunt are traveling to see her. I’ll be praying for a safe journey for them too.

There have been lots and lots of prayer requests coming my way, many are suffering and burdened with problems every day. Please count your blessings as they come and help others less fortunate with your prayers. They do mean so very much.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS…COMIC BOOK DAY

The first comic strip, The Yellow Kid, ran in Sunday newspapers on February 16, 1896. In March 1897, several comic strips were made into a Sunday Journal and and sold for 5 cents. From this humble beginning, comic books were born. During the next 30 years, people became loyal fans of characters such as Dick Tracy, Little Orphan Annie, Popeye, Mutt & Jeff, Buster Brown and Krazy Kat. They have lost some fans to tv, but are still popular today.

TODAY’S SMILE

A man was bitten by a dog. He went to the doctor to be checked out. The doctor said, "I have bad news for you. You've got rabbies."

At first, the man didn't say anything. Then, he smiled and began to write. The doctor figured he didn't hear him and repeated, "I have bad news.

The man kept smiling and said, "That's what I thought you said. I'm making a list of people I'm going to bite.

TODAY’S ACTION

TODAY’S QUOTE

It is not what you do for your children but what you have taught them to do for themselves that will make them successful human beings.

HAPPY MONDAY !!

We are supposed to start out the week with temps in the Mid 80’s. That’s pretty hot for northern Ohio this time of year, but by the weekend we’ll be in the high 60’s and that is about normal for us.

My closet is full right now because of the changing weather. I need summer clothing and fall clothing. Dressing in layers is the best way to go. Put on some short sleeve tops with something long sleeved and warm to start the day and then take off a layer as the day goes along.

Far too soon the layers will be warm, warmer and warmest…and if we are lucky we will take off a layer… Cold nippy weather is on the way and I for one will not be a happy camper for sure.

The smell of fall is in the air and the leaves are changing more everyday.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

An old fellow came into the hospital truly on death's door due to an infected gallbladder. The surgeon who removed the gallbladder was adamant that his patients be up and walking in the hall the day after surgery, to help prevent blood clots forming in the leg veins.

The nurses walked the patient in the hall as ordered. On the third day they had the old fellow up and the nurse told how he complained bitterly each time they did.

The surgeon told them to keep walking him, no matter what. After two weeks, the patient was ready to go home. His family came to pick him up and thanked the surgeon profusely for what he had done for their father, telling him he was a miracle worker.

The surgeon was pleased and appreciated the thanks, but told them that it was really a simple operation and that they had been lucky to get him into the hospital in time.

"Oh no, doctor, you don't understand," they said, "Our father hasn't walked in over a year!"

TODAY’S WORD

abrogate \AB-ruh-gayt\, transitive verb:

1. To annul or abolish by an authoritative act.

2. To put an end to; to do away with.

Abrogate derives from Latin abrogare, "to repeal a law wholly, to annul," from ab-, "away from" + rogare, "to ask, to inquire, to question; also, to propose a law."

TODAY’S REFLECTION

As he thinks in his heart, so he is.

Proverbs 23:7

To listen to our vocabulary you’d think we are the victims of our thoughts. “Don’t talk to me,” we say. “I’m in a bad mood.” As if a mood were a place to which we were assigned (“I can’t call you. I’m in Bosnia.”) rather than an emotion we permit.

Or we say, “Don’t mess with her. She has a bad disposition.” Is a disposition something we “have”? Like a cold or the flu? Are we the victims of the emotional bacteria of the season? Or do we have a choice?

Paul says we do: “We capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ” (2 Cor. 10:5). Do you hear some battlefield jargon in that passage—“capture every thought,” “make it give up” and “obey Christ”?

You get the impression that we are the soldiers and the thoughts are the enemies. Our assignment is to protect the boat and refuse entrance to trashy thoughts.

The minute they appear…we go into action. “This heart belongs to God,” we declare, “and you aren’t getting on board.”

HAPPY SUPPER SATURDAY !!

Today is the last day of Summer and Ice Cream Cone Day so I thought I’d use my Summer graphics one more time and then put them away until next year.

DS#1 and family should be here about 11:00 this morning and the ‘Newlyweds’ will be arriving in town shortly after that . We should be meeting up at the Apple Festival along with DD and her hubby and then spending most of the afternoon there.

We plan to go to 4:30 church as long as we are up town and close by. Then we’ll probably have our supper at the festival too ! I’m sure all the grand’babes’ will be worn out by then.

DD is celebrating this weekend. She got a new job. She’s been going to school to become a dental assistant and only has 2 weeks to go and will , come mid October , start her new job working for a dentist that has his office right down the road from where I work.

Lots of excitement always going on with one or the other of the babes for sure. I’m so thankful for them !

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS…PIANO PLAYER DAY

The piano was invented by Bartolomeo Cristofori in Florence, Italy sometime around 1700 - and was originally called a "harpsichord that plays soft and loud." It was a keyboard instrument that produced a stronger sound than the clavichord and allowed for more artistic expression than the harpsichord or the organ. Today we celebrate the most popular instrument in the whole world - plus more than 20 million people who are pianists. This includes all of us who can only play chopsticks!

TODAY’S SMILE

This puzzle was written by a lady in California in response to an offer from a gentleman in Philadelphia that he would pay anyone $1000 who would write a puzzle he could not solve. He failed to do so and paid the $1000. The answer is two words and it appears only 1 time in the Bible (NIV).

Adam, God made out of dust but thought it best to make me first so I was made before man to answer God's most holy plan

A living being I became and Adam gave to me my name I from his presence then withdrew and more of Adam never knew I did my makers law obey nor ever went from it astray

Thousands of miles I go in fear

But seldom on Earth appear for purpose wise that God did see He put a living soul in me

A soul from me God did claim and took from me the soul again so when from me the soul had fled

I was the same as when first made and without hands, or feet, or soul I travel on from pole to pole

I labor hard by day, by night to fallen man I give great light

Thousands of people, young and old will by my death, great light behold no right or wrong can I conceive the scripture I cannot believe

Although my name therein is found they are to me an empty sound no fear of death doth trouble me real happiness

I'll never see to heaven I shall never go or to hell below now when the lines you slowly read to search your Bible with all speed for that my name is written there

I do honestly declare. Who am I? . . .

(Answer is shown after today's word)

TODAY’S WORD

intrepid \in-TREP-id\, adjective:

 Fearless; bold; brave; undaunted; courageous;

as, an intrepid soldier; intrepid spirit.

Intrepid comes from Latin intrepidus, "calm," from in-, "not" + trepidus, "anxious, disturbed."

Who am I? . . .

Great Fish. Jonah 1:17

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

Matthew 22:37

We go along with our daily activities, but we wonder where that joyful spirit is hiding. I believe that today's scripture holds a vital part of that joy.

Let's look carefully at loving God

...with all your heart.

Do you love God with the same intensity that you love your family — mother, father, wife or children

 ...with all your soul.

Do you give a compassionate, forgiving love to others in your soul that God has given you?

 ...with all your mind.

Do you have enthusiasm in all your tasks and pursue them in obedience to the Lord, as Jesus did?

Jesus followed this commandment with a second: "Love your neighbor as yourself." (vs. 39). I believe God would have us obey these commandments in order to have complete joy in the Lord.

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

This year's autumnal equinox occurs at 5:51 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on September 23. It is said that the wind and weather at the time of the equinoxes foretells the wind and weather during the following three months. If the autumn is warm, it is reputed that the winter will be long. If there's much autumn fog, there will be much winter snow. If the autumn is clear, the winter will be windy. If the storms of September clear off warm, however, you can expect the winter storms to be relatively warm as well.

HAPPY THURSDAY !!

I’m still trying to get the days of the week straightened out here. Ever since they changed the day for Payroll to Monday at work, my week seems altogether backwards. I think I’ll finish up everything I need to do today. Too bad tomorrow isn’t a day off. It could be as there is just nothing left to do…except clean the office that is.

It is quite dirty and dusty too. The past few weeks have been so busy there hasn’t been time to do any of that. It will depend on whether or not there is someone in the office . I can’t clean around them, so if they are there, I’ll be needing to find some busy work.

We had another just beautiful day yesterday, and it looks like another one today. It did get up to 84 degrees, but it wasn’t humid and that makes a big difference.

Take good care all !

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS…BIRTH OF THE SUN DAY

The Incas always celebrated the Birth Of The Sun on September 20th. The sun is the largest object in our solar system and is about 4.6 billion years old. Cultures that practiced sun worship down through history were usually agrarian, promoting the interests of farmers, especially by seeking a more equitable basis of land ownership, societies. When men became farmers, they were dependent on daily and seasonal changes in the weather. The sun was the great force that regulated these changes — the light and heat they needed for their crops.

1948 - One of the most popular singing groups of the 1950s got their professional start on this day. The Four Freshmen did their first gig in Fort Wayne, Indiana and went on to major success with Capitol Records. Hits included It’s a Blue World, Charmaine and Love is Just Around the Corner.

1953 - Lovely Loretta Young hosted a weekly TV show, Letter to Loretta. Later (February 14, 1954), the name was changed to The Loretta Young Show.

1984 - NBC-TV debuted The Cosby Show. Bill Cosby played Dr. Heathcliff (Cliff) Huxtable. His lovely wife, Clair, was played by Phylicia Rashad. The premiere was the most watched show of the week and the show went on to become an Emmy Award-winner and one of the most popular on television for eight years

TODAY’S SMILE

A depressed, overweight, single man came to a pastor because he couldn't lose weight or find a date. The pastor said, "I can help you. At 8:00 in the morning, be ready to exercise." "I've tried all the exercise programs around, and they don't work," the man replied. "Just be there at 8:00. This one works."

The man was ready at 8:00 the next morning. When the doorbell rang, he went to the door and a gorgeous woman in an exercise suit said, "The pastor told me to tell you that if you can catch me, you can marry me." And then she took off. He was so overweight he couldn't catch her.

The routine continued every day for the next three months. He lost about 50 pounds. The morning after he'd lost the 50th pound, he was a lean, mean, running machine. He knew today was the day he'd catch her. He was ready before 8:00 and couldn't wait for the doorbell to ring.

When it rang, he ran to the door and jerked it open - just in time to see the biggest woman he'd ever seen dressed in a jogging suit standing at the door. "The pastor told me to tell you that if I can catch you, I can marry you."

Last I heard, the guy was still running.

TODAY’S WORD

varicolored \VER-ih-kuh-lurd\, adjective:

Having a variety of colors; of various colors.

Varicolored is from vari- (from Latin varius, "various, diversified") + colored (from Latin color, "color, tint, hue.")

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for Iwill yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Psalm 43:5

Psalm 43 is labeled as a "Psalm in time of trouble." If you read the entire Psalm, you'll see that the psalmist is pleading for God's help against his enemies. But at the end of the Psalm he asks himself the questions in today's scripture. Then he gives himself advice that you and I could well take for ourselves today — "Put your hope in God."

It might be a good idea to write HOPE in big red letters on a small card and keep it in your pocket all the time. Whenever you began to worry and fret over a problem, pull out that card, look at the word HOPE, and say a little prayer thanking God for guiding you. Keep HOPE in your heart at all times, so that you have ammunition against those negative thoughts that try to fill your mind.

HOPE will guide you to keep too busy all day and too sleepy all night to worry. Alice Rice wrote, "It ain't no use putting up your umbrella till it rains."
