HAPPY THURSDAY

Today we celebrate a new day and a new month. One which we’ve never seen before. It’s a fresh start for each and every one of us. Maybe yesterday wasn’t so great, but today is the gift we’ve been given to do the best we can with.

As I sip my good coffee each morning and check my e-mail and read my daily devotions I’m always eager to see what might be there for me. The devotions are always meaningful. It seems there is always something in God’s Word that applies to the day and gives me a lift.

Our weather man says we’ll be warm today with showers – rain showers that is…maybe they’ll wash away some of the snow piles. That would be a good thing.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !!!

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

God Bless You !

TODAY'S SMILE

Recently Lori took her children to a restaurant. Her six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As they bowed our heads he said, "God is good. God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And liberty and justice for all! Amen!"

Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby Lori heard a woman remark, "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice-cream! Why, I never!" Hearing this, Lori's son burst into tears and asked her, "Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?"

As Lori assured him that he had done a terrific job and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at Lori's son and said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer." "Really?" Lori's son asked. "Cross my heart," the man replied. Then in a theatrical whisper he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), "Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes."

Naturally, Lori bought her kids ice cream at the end of the meal (How could she resist?). Her son stared at his for a moment and then did something worth remembering the rest of life. He picked up his sundae, and without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With abig smile he told her, "Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes--and my soul is good already!"

At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, and said, "Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven." "And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea." -Matthew 18:1

TODAY'S WORD

1 a : characterized by abundance : copious b : generous in amount, extent, or spirit 2 : exceeding the bounds of good taste : overdone 3 : excessively complimentary or flattering : effusive

TODAY'S REFLECTION

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

 Matthew 13:44

Jesus was trying to tell the people of the joy they would find in following God's way I have found from experience that I can go through the most dreadful circumstance and the joy of knowing that the Lord is with me gives me the strength I need to go on.

HAPPY WEDNESDAY

Good News ! I only had an 8 hour day of work yesterday. The younger of my two bosses came back from out of town. That was a pleasant surprise as I got to have a lunch hour out!

We had a ’powdered sugar donut’ coating of new snow on the ground, but that was all. Today it is supposed to be a little warmer – high 30’s they say.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS…FLORAL DESIGN DAY

Honoring the art of floral design Throughout recorded history, people have used flowers to express their feelings, enhance their surroundings, and to commemorate important rituals and observances. The knowledge of how our ancestors used flowers comes to us in numerous ways. All forms of art, depict the use of flowers: music, books, paintings, sculpture, ceramics and tapestries are only examples of some of the sources of information regarding the use of flowers in past times.

1983: The concluding episode of the long-running television series "M*A*S*H" drew what was then the largest TV audience in U.S. history.

TODAY’S SMILE

While visiting my sister's home recently, I walked past my young neice's room before bedtime and observed her kneeling beside her bed, with her head bowed and hands folded, repeating the alphabet.

"What are you doing?" I asked. "I'm saying my prayers," she explained, a sweet smile across her face, "But I couldn't think of just what I wanted to say. So I'm just saying all the letters of the alphabet, and God can put them together however he thinks best."

The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.

HAPPY TUESDAY

Today is the 2nd of my long work days this week. Hopefully tomorrow won’t be one too ! We had light flurries all day yesterday, but nothing really accumulated. TODAY’S SMILE

We've all been passed by motorists on the road going much faster than we were. But you can imagine my shock at recently being passed by a speeding lady going down the middle of the road's dotted line at a truly breakneck speed (at least 100 mph, on only a two lane road)!

The danger she proposed was high, so you can imagine my relief when I passed her later on down the road parked in front of a car with whirling lights.

Their conversation went something like this... "License and Registration please," the officer asked.

"It's okay, Officer, I have a special license that allows me to do this," said the lady, smiling.

"Yeah, right!" he replied, "I've never heard of such a license."

The lady reached into her purse and handed him her license.

"Just as I suspected," the officer said, "this is an ordinary license, and I see nothing here that would allow you special consideration."

But the lady, still smiling, pointed to the bottom of the license. "See? It says so right here: 'Tear Along The Dotted Line.'" ********************************************************** What set of instructions are you following for your life?

Not everyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord," will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. -Matthew 7:21, 1 John 2:17

Vanishing or likely to vanish like vapor.

Synonyms transient. –ev a·nes cent·ly adv.

The joy and moral stimulation of work no longer must be forgotten in the mad chase of evanescent profits.

 TODAY’S REFLECTION

For, to begin with, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you; and to some extent I believe it.

1 Corinthians 11.18

Once upon a time, almost everybody was an ear. All the ears had a big convention and were having a wonderful time when a nose and a mouth walked in, sat down on the back row, and were very quiet. But soon the sergeant-at-arms walked over and said, "You fellows don't look like ears to me. I'm kicking you out." So the nose and the mouth left. But after a while the convention hall caught fire and destroyed all the ears because no noses were there to smell the smoke and no mouths were there to warn them the place was on fire!

A Parable by Arnold Prater

A person who loses her sense of smell suffers. A person who loses his or her eyes has a much different view point. The same thing is true about members of Christ's body, the church. Every one of us is essential. Everyone is indispensable.

HAPPY MONDAY

Back to work ! Our weather warmed up and we did not have the terrible ice they predicted for yesterday. Today we may get a little snow, but they say it won’t be too much.

I have 2 ten hours days to start off the work week. Monday and Tuesday, both my bosses are out of the office so I’ll have to be there from 7 til 5 each day with no lunch break. I usually pack my lunch and eat at my desk anyway.

Here we are the last week of February already. I’ll not be sad to see it go. March brings Spring and I am really ready for it.!

TODAY IS…RING FINGER DAY

The custom of wearing a wedding ring on the third finger (not counting the thumb) of the left hand was started by the Greeks in the 3rd century B.C. - by mistake! The physicians wrongly believed that a vein ran from this finger to the heart. They called this the "vein of love" and considered this the logical place to wear a ring symbolizing love.

If You...

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who won't survive the week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 20 million people around the world.

If you attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you are more blessed than almost three billion people in the world.

If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.

If you can read this message, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read anything at all.

You are so blessed in ways you may never even know.

TODAY’S WORD

Colporteur \KAHL-por-ter\

noun : a peddler of religious books

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Though it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air, come and perch in its branches.

Matthew 13: 32

Jesus said that was how the kingdom of God would grow from a very small beginning. Many things grow from very small beginnings. Then Jesus taught, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you" (Matthew 17:20).

Do you have seemingly impossible "mountains" blocking your path? God is with you every step of the way. Faith can help you do the impossible.

TODAY’S SMILE

I recently decided to stop by a fast-food drive-through for lunch. I ordered the #1 combo (hamburger, fries, and a coke) for $4.29... no biggie size. When confirming my order, the clerk said, "Your total is $4.83, please drive forward." "$4.83?" I thought, "for a $4.29 meal? That's 54 cents tax! That can't be right."

My mind quickly began to calculate... tax is 8 cents on the dollar in my city, and with $4.29 that would be 35 cents max. I have heard about workers overcharging drive through customers and skimming the money for themselves, so I was beginning to get suspicious. I then got a pen and paper and did the long division (since there were 2 cars ahead of me). 483 divided by 429... I had been charged over 12 percent tax!

When I got to the window I handed the clerk a 5 and asked, "Do you know what the sales tax is here?" The clerk didn't know. I said, "$4.83 for a $4.29 meal is 12 percent tax. That can't be right--can I talk to the manager?"

The clerk gave me my change and called the manager. When the manager came over, I asked what the sales tax is in our city, and the manager said it was 8 percent. "I just just paid $4.83 for a $4.29 meal--that's over 12 percent sales tax" I said.

The manager got a funny look on her face and said that maybe the computer had rung it up wrong or had charged me for the biggie size (even though the biggie upgrade was 35 cents--which would put the total over $5).

The manager quickly checked the figures, and when coming to the same conclusion as myself, she opened the drawer and gave me my extra change.

"Good job!" I thought to myself. "All my wonderful education has heightened my mental mathematical adeptness so that I can do percentages in my head, and my superior intellect has foiled a feeble attempt by a drive-through worker to overcharge me."

I took the twenty cents the manager handed me and, proud of my staggering genius, smugly drove off... without my food.

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he. -Proverbs 16:18

When we face decisions about the way we should act or how we should live, we must keep in mind that God’s command is not "Be happy," but "Be holy."

True joy will come from a holy, God-honoring life

HAPPY FINALLY FRIDAY

After having a little touch of Spring in the air on Wednesday, Winter returned in the form of high Winds bringing in some more of that artic air. East of us in the snow belt they were to get more snow. Hopefully it won’t come our way.

Rain, snow, ice wind are all predicted for the weekend. We’ll just have to wait and see what we get. As far as I know my weekend will be a repeat of last week with nothing special on the calendar.

Of course all our days are special ones. We are blessed more often than not.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

HE'S WATCHING

A burglar broke into a house one night. He shined his flashlight around, looking for valuables, and when he picked up a CD player to place in his sack, a strange, disembodied voice echoed from the dark saying, "Jesus is watching you."

He nearly jumped out of his skin, clicked his flashlight out, and froze. When he heard nothing more after a bit, he shook his head, promised himself a vacation after the next big score, then clicked the light on and began searching for more valuables. Just as he pulled the stereo out so he could disconnect the wires, clear as a bell he heard, "Jesus is watching you."

Freaked out, he shone his light around frantically, looking for the source of the voice. Finally,in the corner of the room, his flashlight beam came to rest on a parrot. "Did you say that?" He hissed at the parrot. "Yep," the parrot confessed, then squawked, "I'm just trying to warn you."

The burglar relaxed. "Warn me, huh? Who in the world are you?"

"Moses," replied the bird. "Moses?" the burglar laughed. "What kind of people would name a bird Moses?"

"The kind of people that would name a Rottweiler Jesus."

If it has, then you need to know something. He is still there. He hasn’t left.

TODAY’S SMILE EIGHT GIFTS THAT COST NOTHING

 1) THE GIFT OF LISTENING... But you must REALLY listen. No interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning your response. Just listening.

2) THE GIFT OF AFFECTION... Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back and handholds. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family and friends.

3) THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER... Clip cartoons. Share articles and funny stories. Your gift will say, "I love to laugh with you."

4) THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE... It can be a simple "Thanks for the help" note or a full sonnet. A brief, handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime, and may even change a life.

5) THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT... A simple and sincere, "You look great in red," "You did a super job" or "That was a wonderful meal" can make someone's day.

6) THE GIFT OF A FAVOR... Every day, go out of your way to do something kind.

7) THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE... There are times when we want nothing better than to be left alone. Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others.

8) THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION... The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone, really it's not that hard to say, Hello or Thank You.

(A PRAYER)

Lord, Thou knowest better than I know myself that I am growing older...Keep me from the fatal habit of thinking I must say something on every subject and on every occasion. Release me from craving to straighten out everybody's affairs. Make me thoughtful but not moody; helpful but not bossy. With my vast store of wisdom, it seems a pity not to use it all, but Thou knowest, Lord, that I want a few friends at the end.

Amen!

TODAY’S WORD

 sal·u·tar·y adjective.

1. Effecting or designed to effect an improvement; remedial: salutary advice.

2. Favorable to health; wholesome: a salutary climate

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith...

I Corinthians 16:13

One of the most important things in life is standing firm to the end. We start a project with good intentions and then allow other things to get in the way and we don't persevere Are you letting others discourage you about your plans? Are you listening to them, rather than going to God in prayer and listening for his answer?

When God is your partner, you can stand firm in the faith -- in God and in yourself.

HAPPY MONDAY

Today is a vacation day for me so…DD and I will be going on our annual Presidents’ Day shopping trip to the outlet mall. The weather is supposed to be much warmer with NO snow. We’ll see…

I spoke with DS#4 and he’ll be leaving on another business trip the end of the week so I’ll be praying for a safe trip for him. DS#1 called and let me know that his MIL’s husband was in the hospital for tests Sunday evening, so we’ll be praying for him also.

It seems there is never a dull moment and always a lot to pray about.
