ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

OCTOBER 4TH, 2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.

William Arthur Ward

TODAY’S ACTION

Engage the minds and hearts of the people around you.

TODAY’S QUOTE

It's just like magic. When you live by yourself, all of your annoying habits are gone."

Merrill Markoe

HAPPY WEDNESDAY !

Over the Hump Day ! Yesterday morning I was greeted by a lightning display on my way to work, but shortly after lunch the sun came out and it did warm up. I came home from work and put my shorts on!

Today we’re supposed to have more rain and cooler weather.

Gas was down to $ 2.09 when I filled up yesterday. I hope it goes down under $2.00 and stays there for a while.

All is very quiet here…just a purring cat on my lap.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way!

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

 Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior

GOD BLESS YOU !

TODAY IS…GOLF LOVERS DAY

During the days of the Roman Empire, they played a game that involved hitting feather-stuffed balls with club-shaped branches. And, so began the game of golf. The first 18-hole course in the U.S. was the Chicago Golf Club founded in 1893. Everybody now gets to take this day off to go play golf!

 (just kidding)

TODAY’S SMILE

One of the busiest times for a meat-department manager in a supermarket occurs when there is a sale on particular cuts. When we put cross-rib roasts on sale one day the result was predictable.

I'd bring out a cart of roasts and before I could get them on display, women customers were jostling for their share. Three times I returned with a cart of roasts and three times they were gone before I got to the counter.

The fourth time out I noticed that a man who had quietly been watching began to approach my cart. He elbowed his way in, pushing and shoving, and finally grasped a roast.

Before he could retreat from the crush, an irate woman glared at him and said, "Sir, how about being a gentleman!" The fellow turned and said, "Ma'am, for twenty minutes I've been a gentleman, now I'm going to be a lady!"

And with that he smiled, took his roast and walked away.

Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.

Carl Jung

This quote offers an incredible opportunity to reevaluate yourself. Being aware of the characteristics and habits of others that irritate you, can be compared to holding up a mirror and seeing the reflection of yourself.yes, this can be a difficult exercise, a real eye-opener, and something none of us like to do.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:7

We must confess that many situations arise in our lives that produce fear. It may be illness, failure, financial loss, loneliness, loss of job, or death.

Sometimes fear is the result of trying to handle our situations ourselves instead of committing them to the Lord.

Millie Stamm

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

Plant evergreens, lilacs, and privet hedges.

Dig a hole now for a live Christmas tree later.

78 DAYS UNTIL WINTER !

Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi

St. Francis of Assisi (1182?-1226) was the founder of the Franciscan Order. The son of a wealthy merchant named Pietro di Bernardone, he publicly denounced his father's wealth in 1206 and dedicated his life to prayer and serving the poor. Pope Innocent III eventually gave Francis and his followers permission to preach, and he ordained Francis a deacon. The followers of Francis were called Friars Minor, or "the lesser brethren."

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,

Where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master, grant that

I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;

 to be understood as to understand;

to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;

 and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Prayer of St. Francis

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart

Psalm 37:4

I Love You All !!!

Be Blessed !!!
