ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

0CTOBER 18TH,2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

You can't stay in your corner of the forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.

A. A. Milne (said by Winnie the Pooh)

TODAY’S ACTION

Love the truth and have the courage to live in it.

TODAY’S QUOTE

The more one does and sees and feels, the more one is able to do, and the more genuine may be one's appreciation of fundamental things like home, and love, and understanding companionship.

Amelia Earhart

HAPPY WEDNESDAY

Over the hump day !

Today we're supposed to get a little break in the rain...only day til Saturday with out it this week.  The sunshine will be welcome!

DDIL#4's Dad is having surgery on his knee .  I hope you'll join me in praying for a speedy recovery for him.

I still haven't found my gloves and am about ready to buy a new pair.  You know as soon as I do I'll find them.

Have a great day all !  Another wonderful one on the way.

TODAY IS…WATCH A SQUIRREL DAY

The Grey Squirrel has been traced back 50 million years. It is a rodent about fifteen inches long that weighs around one pound. Its diet consists of nuts, seeds and fruit. Their life span is six years, but most squirrels inside the cities don't reach their first birthday. This is not because of predators - they are usually killed by automobiles. Squirrels want their own cross-walks!

TODAY’S TRIVIA

LONG DISTANCE DAY COMMEMORATES THE FIRST LONG DISTANCE TELEPHONE LINE BETWEEN NEW YORK AND CHICAGO IN 1892

Alaska Day - Celebrates the transfer of Alaska from Russia to the U.S. in 1867

TODAY’S SMILE

There is a story told about a miser who fell into a well. Even though he wasn't liked in the village because of his meanness, the people were anxious to rescue the man. Someone stretched down and said “Give me your hand.”

The miser hadn't given anything in his life and could not understand what giving his hand meant. Someone else shouted down the well “Take my hand.”

Instantly the miser stretched out his hand and was pulled from the well.

Giving and receiving always go hand in hand. We receive a lot when we are allowed to give.

One of the greatest enemies of God is a meanness of spirit. We are called to be generous with our time, our love, our energy, our gifts and talents. Giving is better than receiving because giving starts the receiving process.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

John 8:12

Many look to the Bible as a set of rules. All these rules are – thou shalt not’s. They cannot accept the prohibitions of God. Look at some of these "thou shall not’s.":

The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing. Psalm 34:10

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John 5:24

These are the "Thou shall not’s," that many seem to overlook when criticizing the Bible. They are actually very positive. The ‘negative’ commands of God are there, but the promises are also there.

Look at His many "shall not" promises. As His children we "shall not" : want for any good thing; come into condemnation; or walk in darkness

There are many other great "shall nots" – check them out – Psalm 16:8, Psalm 37:24, Isaiah 43:2, Matthew 24:35, Matthew 16:18, and Romans 6:14.

God has made many promises to His children. God will keep His promises. We cannot be upset over prohibitions from God. Look at all the great Provisions.

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

SAGE THYME AND ROSEMARY

These are among the herbs that you can successfully bring indoors.

Sage, thyme, and rosemary transplant easily, but they will need a spot that receives adequate sunlight, such as a south-facing window. Without enough light, they will tend to become too leggy. Pinching off the leaves for your winter soups and stews will help keep the plants bushy. Keep them on a windowsill over the kitchen sink, they will soak up a little extra humidity from all of that moisture.

64 DAYS UNTIL WINTER !

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart

Psalm 37:4

I Love You All !!!

Be Blessed !!!
