ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

AUGUST 10th, 2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

If a man empties his purse into his head, no one can take it away from him. An investment of knowledge always pays the best interest.

Benjamin Franklin

 TODAY’S ACTION

Miracles are of all sizes. And if you start believing in little miracles, you can work up to the bigger ones

TODAY’S QUOTE

There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort.

Jane Austen

HAPPY THURSDAY!

This is the week of the washing machine…mine sounds like it’s out of balance and making a terrible noise, so I called the repair man. One of my bosses suggested that if I tip it forward, it might just be out of balance and reset it’s self. That did not work… Today or tomorrow the repair man will be here. Thankfully I had some nice overtime last week that will hopefully pay for that.

It is ‘Ma’s Law.’ If I think I’ll have extra money – I won’t.

We had another beautiful day here yesterday ! Cooler temps and sunny skies. This is the part of summer I love the very best!

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS…TAKE AN ASPRIN DAY !

Throughout history, people used a powder made from the bark of willow trees to treat a fever. We now know the bark contains salicylic acid. Aspirin is a man-made variety of this same thing. It was first made in France in 1853, but it was 40 more years before it was available to the public. In 1893, a young German working for Bayer, made it to try to help his father's arthritis. Bayer quickly put it on the market as a pain killer. Today, it is the most widely used medication in the world.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is National S’Mores Day.

Today is National Lazy Day, a day to take it easy

1776: A committee of Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson suggested the United States adopt "E pluribus unum" - `Out of many, one' - as the motto for its Great Seal

1948: Allen Funt's "Candid Camera" made its TV debut on ABC with the title "Candid Microphone," which was also the name of a radio program produced by Funt

TODAY’S SMILE Start your day off with a great big smile because every day should be a GREAT DAY.

(A Winter joke – just to cool us off today )

Ole and Lena were sitting down to their usual cup of morning coffee listening to the weather report coming over the radio. "There will be 3 to 5 inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. You must park your cars on the odd numbered side of the streets."

Ole got up from his coffee and replies "Jeez, OK."

Two days later, again they both are sitting down with their cups of morning coffee and the weather forecast is, "There will be 2 to 4 inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. You must park your cars on the even numbered side of the streets."

Ole got up from his coffee and replies, "Jeez, OK."

Three days later, again they both are sitting down with their cups of coffee and the weather forecast is, "There will be 6 to 8 inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. You must park your cars on the..." and then the power went out and Ole didn't get the rest of the instructions.

He says to Lena, "Jeez, what am I going to do now, Lena?"

Lena replies, "Aw, Ole, just leave the car in the garage."

To err is human, to bark, canine.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.

John 14:2

Some of us have many happy memories of houses -- not just houses, but homes. We are blessed by the promise of Jesus that God has a house with many rooms waiting for us.

Our Savior is inviting us to join him in a home that will be filled eternally with peace, love and joy.
