TODAY’S QUOTE

The only time people dislike gossip is when you gossip about them.

HAPPY SATURDAY !

Thank the good Lord for weekends !

I’m going to enjoy this morning with my good cup of hot coffee and I’m going to be l a z y and not rush around for anything. There is nothing special on the calendar for this weekend or for the week ahead for that matter. Just ‘ordinary’ days here.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please say a little prayer for our ‘Sunshine’ babes, they are going though a hard bumpy spot right now.

God Bless You !

TODAY IS…SPICEY FOOD DAY !

The spices in the hot foods we eat are oily. And, we all know that oil and water don't mix. So, what can you do to cool down a hot mouth? Try one of these... Eat bread - it will absorb the oily spices. Drink milk - it contains "casein" that binds the spices and carries them away.

SPICEY CRAB NACHOS

 2 tablespoons butter or margarine

2 garlic cloves, pealed and sliced

1/2 small onion, slices

salt and pepper, to taste

1 cup bottled clam juice

1 cup heavy or whipping cream

2 canned chipotle chiles, rinsed

1 cup (4 oz) grated Romano cheese

1 cup (4 oz) grated Monterey Jack cheese

10 oz crab meat

8 oz tortilla chips (3 handfuls)

1/2 bunch cilantro leaves (optional)

1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). 2. Melt butter or margarine in a large skillet over medium heat. Saute garlic and onions with salt and pepper for about 5 minutes. Pour in the clam juice and boil until the liquid is reduced by half (2-3 minutes). 3. Add the cream and cook over high heat until thick enough to coat a spoon. Stir in the chipotle chilies and remove from heat. Put the mixture into a blender and puree. Return to skillet and stir in 1/2 cup of each kind of cheese. 4. Place the skillet over medium heat and stir in the crabmeat. Bring to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Stir in the tortilla chips. 5. Transfer to a large casserole dish. Sprinkle with the rest of the cheese. Place in oven for 5 minutes to melt the cheese. Garnish with cilantro if desired.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is Weather Cliché Day, marking this date in 1897 when editor Charles Dudley Warner of the Hartford Courant published the sentence, "Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it." Many incorrectly attribute the quotation to Warner's close friend, Mark Twain.

1856: Gail Borden of Brooklyn, New York, patented his process for condensed milk. The milk from contented cows. This slogan was one of the great American advertising campaigns. Borden's is still in business and is one of the largest dairy product concerns in the world. The familiar flat-topped cans of Borden's condensed milk are still available, as are Borden's ice cream, cheese and other products -- all with the seal of approval by Borden's famous mascot, Elsie, the cow.

1956: Elvis Presley recorded "Love Me Tender."

TODAY’S SMILE

Start your day off with a great big smile because every day should be a GREAT DAY.

During a phone conversation, my nephew mentioned that he was taking a psychology course at university. "Oh, great," I said, "Now you'll be analyzing everyone in the family."

"No, no," he replied. "I don't take abnormal psychology until next semester."

ONE MORE …

A Presbyterian, a Methodist, and a Baptist and their wives were on a cruise. A tidal wave came up and swamped the ship; they all drowned, and next thing you know, they’re standing before St. Peter.

First came the Presbyterian and his wife. St. Peter shook his head sadly. “I can’t let you in. You loved money too much. You loved it so much, you even married a woman named Penny.”

Then came the Methodist. “Sorry, can’t let you in, either. You loved food too much. You loved to eat so much, you even married a woman named Candy!”

The Baptist turned to his wife and whispered nervously, “It doesn’t look good, Fanny.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

When Peter saw him, he asked, 'Lord, what about him?' Jesus answered, 'If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.' John 21:21-22

Jesus was giving Peter instructions and Peter asked about what another disciple would be doing. Our scripture today gives Jesus' answer.

If we love the Lord, we will follow him and not look left and right at how others are serving him. God gives each of us special talents.

Why waste time trying to compare ourselves with others? When we give of our best, whether at work, at home or at play, we reap the rewards of peace and joy.

When we obey Jesus and follow him, our thoughts are not straying to what others are doing. We are cheerfully serving the Lord.
