ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

AUGUST 28TH, 2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

The days you work are the best days.

Georgia O'Keefe

TODAY’S ACTION

Pursue your dream job.

TODAY’S QUOTE

At the end of the day, you want to respect what you do. In a certain sense, our work is us. We get into it, and it gets into us.

John W. Rowe

HAPPY MONDAY !

It's back to work once again.  Yesterday we got quite a bit of rain and it was steamy here. After church I went out shopping a little bit and found my September purse.  When September gets here, I'll post a picture of it on my Journal page.

I did talk to DS#1, DS#4, DD and DS#6 yesterday evening on the phone.  Everyone is doing fine at their end.  That is always a blessing.

Have a great day all !  Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU !

TODAY IS…TALL BUILDING DAY

Throughout history, people built "up" - the ancient pyramids, the cathedrals of Europe and countless towers. Today, we build skyscrapers because they put lots of real estate in a small ground area. So, what's the tallest builing? The Petronas Towers in Malaysia win at 1,483 ft each. But, the top part of this structure is only decorative. Many people vote for the Sears Tower in Chicago because it has the highest occupied floor (1,431 ft) and the highest traditional roof (1,454 ft.).

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is Submarine Day, marking this date in 1965 when 17-year-old Fred DeLuca opened Pete’s Super Submarines in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He called it Pete’s because Dr. Peter Buck, his friendly nuclear physicist, loaned him $1,000 to start the restaurant. A year later they changed the name to Subway. Today there are 12,000 Subways worldwide.

Today is National Cherry Turnover Day.

1774: Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first American-born saint, was born in New York City.

1830: The passenger-carrying, train locomotive, The Tom Thumb, was demonstrated for the first time at Baltimore, MD. It was the first locomotive of its kind built in America.

1837: Pharmacists John Lea and William Perrins of Worcester, England, begin manufacturing their Worcester Sauce

1963: 200,000 people participated in a peaceful civil rights rally in Washington DC, where Dr. Martin Luther King Junior delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial.

1989: Walt Disney Productions bought the Muppets for $100-million.

TODAY’S SMILE

Start your day off with a great big smile because every day should be a GREAT DAY.

Chocolate Chuckles

If you've got melted chocolateall over your hands, you're eating it too slowly.

Nine out of ten people like chocolate. The tenth person always lies...

I could give up chocolate, but I'm not a quitter.

Man cannot live on chocolate alone; but woman sure can.

Chocolate is cheaper than therapy and you don't need an appointment.

In the cookies of life, friends are the chocolate chips.

Chocolate is nature's way of making up for Mondays.

Stress wouldn't be so hard to take if it were chocolate covered.

Chocolate has many preservatives. Preservatives make you look younger.

Put "eat chocolate" at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you'll get one thing done.

There are four basic food groups: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, and chocolate truffles.

If not for chocolate, there would be no need for control top pantyhose. An entire garment industry would be devastated!

If you can't eat all your chocolate, it will keep in the freezer. But if you can't eat all your chocolate, what's wrong with you?

Chocolate covered raisins, cherries, orange slices and strawberries all count as fruit, so eat all you like.

If I eat equal amounts of dark chocolate and white chocolate, is that a balanced diet? Don't they actually counteract each other?

Strength is the capacity to break a chocolate bar into four pieces with your bare hands — and then eat just one of the pieces.

If calories are an issue, store your chocolate on top of the fridge. Calories are afraid of heights, and they will jump out of the chocolate to protect themselves.

T-Shirt Slogan: EMERGENCY ALERT: If wearer of this shirt is found vacant, listless, or depressed, ADMINISTER CHOCOLATE IMMEDIATELY.

There are more muscles in the human mouth than any other part of the body.So how come chewing doesn’t make us any thinner???

TODAY’S WORD

skylark \SKYE-lark\verb

1 : to run up and down the rigging of a ship in sport

2 : frolic, sport

As the couple was walking past the playground, they stopped and watched the happy children laugh and skylark.

As far as we know, people were skylarking at sea before they were larking on land. "Skylarking" was originally a term used by seamen for their scampering about on the rigging of ships.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?

Matthew 27:46

What are we to think when we repeatedly ask God for something good—something that could easily glorify Him—but the answer doesn’t come? Is He listening or not? When we pray, we may not see how God is working or understand how He will bring good through it all. So we have to trust Him. We relinquish our rights and let God do what is best.

When we bend our knees to pray,

God bends His ear to listen.
