ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
AUGUST 6th, 2006
TODAY'S THOUGHT
Everybody has barriers and obstacles. If you look at them as containing fences that don’t allow you to advance, then you’re going to be a failure. If you look at them as hurdles that strengthen you each time you go over one, then you’re going to be a success.
Benjamin Carson
TODAY’S ACTION
Make it a rule... never, if possible, to lie down at night without being able to say, "I have made one human being at least a little wiser, a little happier or a little better this day.
Charles Kingsley
TODAY’S QUOTE
Flatter me, and I may not believe you.
Criticize me, and I may not like you.
Ignore me, and I may not forgive you.
Encourage me, and I will not forget you.
William Arthur Ward
HAPPY SUNDAY!
R & R day has come again ! After Church this morning, I’ll be going home to get DS#5’s birthday dinner and cake ready. This is one of my favorite things to do. I can’t do it for all of my children because most of them live far away, but DS#5 lives in town, so it makes it easy to do for him.
I do try to fix something everyone likes when I do see them. With no one at home anymore, my cooking is limited to holidays and celebrations it seems. I don’t put out much effort just for myself.
The new week ahead looks to be a quiet one – just going to work on the calendar. ‘Ordinary’ days can be wonderful!
Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior
God Bless You !
TODAY IS…HYPNOSIS DAY
Yes, those old scary movies made us all think somebody could put us under a spell. Not true! Hypnosis has undergone a lot of research to put that theory to the test. It turns out that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. It's a natural state of awareness, focused attention and deep relaxation. Scientist call it the "alpha state" - somewhere between being awake and asleep. Gee... sounds likes me every morning before coffee.

TODAY’S SMILE
Time, stress, responsiblity, and the news turn all, (well most) of us into adults at some point. That’s not all bad, but it is partly bad, so take back a bit of the joy of being a kid by:
Sing into your hairbrush.
Grow a milk mustache.
Read the funnies–throw the rest of the paper away.
Dunk your cookies.
Open a pack of cupcakes and give one to a friend even though you wanted both of them for yourself.
Step carefully over sidewalk cracks.
Change into some play clothes.
Try to get someone to trade you a better sandwich.
Have a staring contest with your cat.
Eat ice cream for breakfast.
Blow the wrapper off a straw.
Refuse to eat crusts.
Make a face the next time somebody tells you “no.”
Watch TV in your pajamas.
Ask “Why?” a lot.
Have someone read you a story.
Eat dessert first.
Sneak some frosting off a cake.
Stay up past your bedtime.
Whatever you’re doing, stop once in a while for recess.
Make a “slurpy” sound with your straw when you get to the bottom of a milkshake.
Play a song you like really loud, over and over.
Find some pretty stones and save them.
Make cool screeching noises every time you turn a corner.
Take a running jump over a big puddle.
Eat dinner at the coffee table.
Giggle a lot for no real reason.
TODAY’S WORD

TODAY’S REFLECTION
Anxious hearts are very heavy but a word of encouragement does wonders!
Proverbs 12:25
Today you may not see any sunbeams, but remember, the sun is still there.
Thank You, God, for sending
A happy thought my way
To blot out my depression
On a disappointing day.
