ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

AUGUST 4th, 2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.

 H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

TODAY’S ACTION

Put aside your fear of failure and replace it with effort towards your goals.

TODAY’S QUOTE

The art of mothering is to teach the art of living to children.

Elain Heffner

HAPPY FRIDAY

Finally, Friday at last.! It’s been a long week. I think the heat made it seem longer than usual. We finally got some relief so for a few days anyway, it will be comfortable here.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS… TWINS DAY

The term "twins" comes from an ancient German word meaning "two together." About 3% of all births are twins - and there are about 125 million twins in the world today. Every August since 1976, twins have traveled to a small town south of Cleveland for a weekend of socializing.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is Hug Your Child Day, a day to remember that every day is Hug Your Child Day.

Today is National Chocolate Chip Day.

Today is Coast Guard Day. The Revenue Cutter Service, formed on this date in 1790, was merged with the Life Saving Service in 1915 to become the U.S. Coast Guard.

1943: While attempting to develop a substitute for rubber, engineer James Wright dropped a lump of gooey stuff on a General Electric laboratory floor and it bounced. Accidentally, he had invented Silly Putty.

1957: The Everly Brothers introduced "Wake Up, Little Susie" on the Ed Sullivan Show.

TODAY’S SMILE

TWO ‘GRANDMA’ JOKES TODAY

Grandma was making her very first flight aboard a plane from L.A. to New York. They had only been in the air for a few minutes when she complained to the stewardess that her ears were popping.

The girl smiled and gave her some chewing gum, assuring her that many people experienced the same discomfort. When they landed in New York, Grandma thanked the stewardess.

"The chewing gum worked fine," she said, "but tell me this... how do I get it out of my ears?"

…one more

When my three-year-old son opened the birthday gift from his grandmother and found a water pistol. He squealed with delight and headed for the nearest sink.

I was not so pleased. I turned to Mom and said, "I'm surprised at you. Don't you remember how we used to drive you crazy with water guns?"

Mom smiled and then replied, "I remember."

TODAY’S REFLECTION

And this is my prayer that your love may abound and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ

Philippians 1:9-10

Each of us has the opportunity to be our very best in everything we do. When we choose to go the extra mile rather than to sit back and wait for others to do things for us, God will shower blessings on us.

Try it! You'll be pleasantly surprised at the results.
