TODAY’S QUOTE

If you haven't any charity in your heart,

you have the worst kind of heart trouble.

Bob Hope

HAPPY SUNDAY !

Good Morning !

Another R&R day is here again ! I always need that refreshing and renewing to get me through another week. As usual I’m off to church and will be praying for all of you ! The week ahead looks to be another quiet one on the home front.

The good thing is that Labor Day Weekend is coming and I’ll be having an extra vacation day making it a nice long weekend. There is lots to do at my house, so I’ll be laboring that’s for sure, but it’ll be a labor of love – that makes a difference.

Work days just don’t allow for all that needs to be done around here, so I’ll be playing ‘catch up’ once again.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU !

TODAY IS…BANANA LOVERS DAY

Banana plants are grown in just about every tropical place - and make up the 4th largest fruit crop in the world. A plant needs 10 - 15 months of frost-free conditions to produce a flower stalk. Most varieties will stop growing when the temperature drops below 60° F of above 100°. High in potassium, bananas are easy to eat and are a great additional to any meal.

BANANA PIZZA

8 frozen dinner rolls, thawed

2/3 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened

1/3 cup chopped pecans

2 cups banana cream pudding

4-6 bananas, sliced

1 cup whipped topping (optional)

1. Spray a 12" pizza pan with non-stick cooking spray. Press the rolls together and form the dough into a crust in the pan. Turn up the edges to make a ridge. Let the dough rise for 10 minutes.

2. Cream the butter and brown sugar together in a mixing bowl. Stir in the pecans. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over your pizza dough. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and cool completely.

3. Arrange the sliced bananas on top of the crust. Spoon the banana pudding over the sliced bananas. Top with the whipped topping.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is Mother Teresa Day, marking her birth on August 27, 1910, in Skopje, Macedonia. The Catholic nun founded the Order of the Missionaries of Charity, which cared for the destitute in Calcutta. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and died in Calcutta in 1997. Her birth name was Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu.

Everytime you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.

1912 - Tarzan was born, or rather, came to life on this day. Tarzan of the Apes was published by writer Edgar Rice Burroughs. This was his first magazine story about an abandoned English boy raised by African apes. Tarzan, "King of the Jungle," and it became one of the 20th centuries’ best-known fictional characters.

1984 - A new face joined the group of journalists on CBS-TV’s 60 Minutes. Diane Sawyer became the fifth reporter on the top-rated TV newsmagazine. Mike Wallace, Morley Safer, Harry Reasoner and Ed Bradley welcomed Sawyer to the show.

TODAY’S SMILE

Start your day off with a great big smile because every day should be a GREAT DAY.

Missed Opportunities

The story is told of a young man who wished to marry the farmer's beautiful daughter. He went to the farmer to ask his permission. The farmer looked him over and responded, "Son, go stand out in that field and I'm going to release three bulls, one at a time. If you can catch the tail of any one of the three bulls you can marry my daughter."

The young man stood in the pasture awaiting the first bull. The barn door opened and out ran the biggest, meanest-looking bull he had ever seen. He decided that one of the next bulls had to be a better choice than this one, so he ran over to the side and let the bull pass through the pasture out the back gate.

The barn door opened again. Unbelievable. He had never seen anything so big and fierce in his life. It stood pawing the ground, grunting, slinging slobber as it eyed him. Whatever the next bull was like, it had to be a better choice than this one. He ran to the fence and let the bull pass through the pasture out the back gate.

The door opened a third time. A smile came across his face. This was the weakest, scrawniest little bull he had ever seen. This one was his bull. As the bull came running by, he positioned himself just right and jumped at just the exact moment. He grabbed... but the bull had no tail!

Continue praying, keeping alert, and always thanking God. Also pray for us that God will give us an opportunity to tell people His message." (Col. 4:2-3a)

More Good Advice

Remember to always say what you mean.

If you love someone, tell them.

Don't be afraid to express yourself.

Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you, because when you decide that it's the right time it might be too late.

Seize the day. Never have regrets.

And most importantly,

stay close to your friends and family,

for they have helped make you

the person that you are today.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Anyone who is having trouble should pray.

James 5:13

Before you go anywhere else with your disappointments, go to God.

Maybe you don’t want to trouble God with your hurts. After all, he’s got famines and pestilence and wars; he won’t care about my little struggles, you think. Why don’t you let him decide that?

He cared enough about a wedding to provide the wine. He cared enough about Peter’s tax payment to give him a coin. He cared enough about the woman at the well to give her answers. “He cares about you” (I Peter 5:7).
