ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

MARCH 7TH, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Life's blows cannot break a person whose spirit is warmed at the fire of enthusiasm.

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

TODAY’S ACTION

Today work on eliminating doubt and increasing trust.

TODAY’S QUOTE

A discipline I have observed is an attitude of love and reverence to people.

Bessie Head

HAPPY WEDNESDAY

OVER THE HUMP DAY!

It was a quiet Tuesday here, just very cold.  Today they say SNOW.  One thing about March snow is that it usually doesn't last long and melts off pretty quick.  Trouble here is that I still have all kinds of snow.  I've noticed some bare spots in the yard though and if we just get some warmer days it will be gone.

The Star Magnolia bush in my front yard has huge buds on it .  Guess it will bloom pretty quickly once the weather warms up.  DS#4 got it for me several years ago and it's grown quite abit.  Last year several people stopped and asked what it was as it was so pretty.

It will be a blessing when we can see some blooms instead of flakes.

Take good care all !

Have a great day !  Another wonderful one on the Way!

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom fortheir commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU !

 TODAY IS…SALT WATER DAY

Why is ocean water salty? River water picks up mineral salts from rocks and soil as it flows to the ocean. Not much salt is in that river water, but hold on! Ocean water only evaporates (or freezes into polar ice), and the salt stays behind, so... over time, the ocean just gets saltier and saltier. If all the salt was taken from the oceans and sprinkled on land, it would make a layer about 500 feet deep - as high as a 40 story building. Now, that's a lot of salt!

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is Peace Corps Day, marking the founding of the corps in 1961.

Distinguished Service Medal Birthday - In 1918, President Wilson authorized a medal recognizing those who performed exceptionally meritorious service during the war.

1876: Alexander Graham Bell patented the telephone. He envisioned it as a device that could make it possible to communicate with deaf people.

1897: The world's first corn flakes were served to Dr. John Kellogg's patients at a Battle Creek, Michigan, mental hospital.

1933: The Monopoly game is invented.

1955: "Peter Pan" with Mary Martin and Cyril Richard was presented as a television special for the first time.

TODAY’S SMILE

Living on Earth is expensive, but it does include a free trip around the sun every year.

How long a minute is depends on what side of the bathroom door you'reon.

Birthdays are good for you; the more you have, the longer you live.

Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open.

Ever notice that the people who are late are often much jollier than the people who have to wait for them?

Most of us go to our grave with our music still inside of us.

If Wal-mart is lowering prices every day, how come nothing is free yet?

You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.

Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened.

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors...but they all exist very nicely in the same box.

A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Have an awesome day, and know that someone who thinks you're great has thought about you today!

TODAY’S REFLECTION

O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven above or on earth beneath, keeping covenant and steadfast love for Your servants who walk before You with all their heart.

I Kings 8:23

Before you get out of bed, make a habit of saying this one sentence: "God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name." It may be a little tough to do the first few days. But as it becomes part of your daily routine, it will open your eyes to the fact that there is so much to give thanks for every day.

25 words.

That’s all it is. You’ve got room in your schedule for 25 words that will begin to transform your perspective on the world!
