ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

MARCH 8TH, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

God speaks in the silence of the heart.

Listening is the beginning of prayer.

Mother Teresa

TODAY’S ACTION

Be gracious and appreciate the gifts that come to those around you.

TODAY’S QUOTE

It is not length of life, but depth of life.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

HAPPY THURSDAY

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY !

I already had the celebration and the cake and candles, but today really is my birthday. I finally realized how great birthdays were when I reached the age of 60. That was just a few short years ago. Now I count my blessings and enjoy!

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…ALFRED HITCHCOCK DAY

One of the greatest film directors in history, this Englishman (who became an American citizen) valued suspense over shock and kept audiences on the edge of their seats through 50 movies and years of television shows. Never winning an Academy Award, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1979. How many people stopped taking showers after seeing "Psycho" is unknown!

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is National Peanut Cluster Day.

International Women's Day – This day commemorates a demonstration by New York City women garment workers in 1857

Today is the Day for Women's Rights and International Peace, sponsored by the United Nations.

1887: The telescopic fishing rod – made of steel tubes inside one another – was patented by Everett Horton.

1985 - The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) taxed themselves to discover that 407,700 Americans were millionaires -- more than double the total of just five years before.

AND IT’S MY BIRTHDAY !

TODAY’S SMILE

A fellow who just reached his 120th birthday was giving a press conference to the assembled media. "Excuse me, sir," one of the reporters said, "but how did you come to live to be 120?

"It's actually quite simple," the old feller replied. "I just never argue." "That's impossible," the reporter responded. "There must be something else, like diet, or meditation, or something. Just not arguing won't keep you alive for 120 years!"

The old fellow stared hard at the reporter for several seconds. "Hmmm," he finally shrugged, "maybe you're right."

Seen on a birthday card:

Forget about the past, You can't change it. Forget about the future, You can't predict it.

Inside: Forget about the present, I didn't buy you one.

A nurse is writing down necessary information about a new patient, in preparation for her physical examination... Nurse: "How old are you, Mrs. Smith?"

Patient: "None of your business." Nurse: "But the doctor must know your age for his records." Patient: "Well, first, multiply twenty by two, then add ten. Got that?" Nurse: "Yes, fifty." Patient: "

All right, now subtract fifty, and tell me, what do you get?" Nurse: "Zero." Patient: "Right. And that's exactly the chance of me telling you my age."

I will speak of the mighty works of the Lord; O GOD, I will tell of your singular justice. God, you have taught me from my youth; to this day I proclaim your wondrous deeds. Now that I am old and gray, do not forsake me, God, That I may proclaim your might to all generations yet to come, Your power and justice, God, to the highest heaven. You have done great things; O God, who is your equal?

Psalm 71: 16-19

TODAY’S REFLECTION

All the days of the afflicted are evil, but he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast.

Proverbs 15:15

Not all of us will live a long time, but we can all live well each day—with laughter, the Lord, and the little things in life.

Laughter—"A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken" (Prov. 15:13). True happiness begins deep inside and emerges on our faces.

The Lord—"The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom, and before honor is humility" (v.33). When God is central in our hearts, He can teach us His way through every experience of life.

The Little Things—"Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a fatted calf with hatred" (v.17). Maintaining loving relationships and enjoying the basic things of life are more important than wealth and success.
