ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

MARCH 4TH, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Problems are to the mind what exercise is to the muscles, they toughen and make strong.

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

TODAY’S ACTION

With faith in your heart, face any challenge that you encounter.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Stop telling God how big your storm is. Instead, tell your storm how big your God is

HAPPY SUNDAY

Today is my birthday celebration ! It’s not really my birthday yet, but it’s the day most everyone can get together. DS#1and family, DS#3 and family, DD and her hubby, DS#5 and his wife, and ‘the Newlyweds’ will all be here. Hopefully the weather will be all right for traveling. If not, I’d rather they stay home and not risk bad roads.

The weather man says only 30% chance of snow, so it should be ok. We’re all going to church together this morning and then out to lunch at O’Boys then home for some birthday cake. I’m just happy anytime we can get together.

Have a great day ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY IS…OLD ROCK DAY

Fossils are something like Mother Nature's diary... theytell us secrets about the plants and animals that lived long ago. The word "fossil" comes from the Latin word fossilis (which means "dug up"). Most of them are dug up by paleontologists, but you just might find one in your own backyard.

TODAY’S SMILE

A boy once said to God, "I know what I want when I grow up." He proceeded to give God his list: to live in a big house with two Saint Bernard's; to marry a tall, blue-eyed woman; to have three sons-one who will be a senator, one a scientist, and the other a quarterback. He also wanted to be a mountain climber and drive a red Ferrari.

As it turned out, the boy hurt his knee one-day while playing football. He could no longer climb trees, much less mountains. He married a beautiful and kind woman who was short with brown eyes.

Because of his business, he lived in an apartment in the city and usually rode the subway. He had three loving daughters, and they adopted a fluffy cat. One daughter became a nurse, one an artist and the third a music teacher.

One morning the man awoke and remembered his boyhood dream. He became extremely depressed. Heartbroken, he called out to God, "Remember when I was a boy and told You all the things I wanted? Why didn't You give me those things?"

"I could have," said God, "but I wanted to make you happy."

TODAY’S REFLECTION

All things are worth nothing compared with the greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.

Philippians 3:8

The cache of Christianity is Christ. Not money in the bank or a car in the garage or a healthy body or a better self-image. Secondary and tertiary fruits perhaps. But the Fort Knox of faith is Christ.

Fellowship with him. Walking with him. Pondering him. Exploring him. The heart-stopping realization that in him you are part of something ancient, endless, unstoppable, and unfathomable. And that he, who can dig the Grand Canyon with his pinkie, thinks you’re worth his death on a Roman timber.

Christ is the reward of Christianity.

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

This is the time for Pisces, those born between February 20 and March 20. Some of this week's birthday people include manufacturer Levi Strauss (26th); poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (27th); actress Kelly Bishop (28th); director Ron Howard (March 1st); inventor Alexander Graham Bell (3rd); and football coach Knute Rockne (4th). Pisces are considered sensitive, compassionate, and imaginative. Their sympathetic nature makes them well suited to work in charities and healthcare and as veterinarians.

Hope you have a GREAT birthday celebration and that the snow flakes stay away.  Last Sunday here in Southern Maryland we had 6 inches of snow and by Friday our temperatures were in the 60's.  Go figure.  My John Quills are blooming like crazy.  Again, have a great day you deserve it!  Phyllis
