TODAY’S QUOTE

We must learn to let go, to give up, to make room for the things we have prayed for and desired.

Charles Fillmore

HAPPY TUESDAY

Brrr Chill ...there is another artic blast coming our way. Spring is a long way off in Northern Ohio. Windchills last night between 5 and 10 degrees below 0. On Sunday though, it may warm up again to a whopping 40 degrees And after midnight tonight we’ll probably see 2-4 more inches of snow!

I think that groundhog was just a little confused when he predicted an early spring this year.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way!

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY IS…BROWNIE PIE DAY

What will they think of next? Combining two favorite desserts (brownies and cheesecake), this recipe took the top prize at the 50th Anniversary Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest. Now... who am I to argue - especially when chocolate is involved?

 BROWNIE PIE RECIPE

Pillsbury Bake Off Winner

1 (9") pie crust

1 (8-oz) pkg cream cheese

3 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 eggs

1 (15.1-oz) pkg Hot Fudge Swirl Brownie Mix

1/4 cup oil

2 tablespoons water

1/2 cup chopped pecans 1)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F 2) In medium bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar, vanilla and 1 egg. Beat until smooth. Reserve hot fudge packet from the brownie mix for the topping. 3) In large bowl, combine brownie mix, oil, 1 tablespoon of water and 2 eggs. Beat 50 strokes with a spoon. 4) Spread 1/2 cup of the brownie mixture in the bottom of the pie crust. Spoon cream cheese mixture over the brownie layer and smooth carefully. Top with remaining brownie mixture - spread evenly and sprinkle on pecans. 5) Bake for 40 to 50 minutes until center is puffed (it may have cracks in it). Cover edges of crust with foil if it browns too fast. 6) Heat the hot fudge packet in the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir in 1 tablespoon of water and drizzle over the top of the pie. Cool 3 hours and store in the refrigerator.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is Headache Day, marking the patenting of aspirin on this date in 1899. On the same day, the Bayer Company trademarked the name aspirin for the medicine developed by German chemist Friedrich Hoffman. Aspirin is also known as acetylsalicylic acid.

Today is National Chocolate Cheesecake Day.

Crust:

1 1/4 C. chocolate wafer cookie crumbs

1/4 C. sugar

 1/4 C. melted butter

Mix crust ingredients and pat into a 9 or 10 inch spring-form pan. Bake 10 minutes at 350°F.

Filling:

24 oz. cream cheese

1 1/2 C. sugar

3 eggs

1 C. sour cream

12 oz. melted chocolate

1 t. vanilla

Mix cream cheese and sugar together, blending well. Add eggs one at a time. Add sour cream, vanilla, then add melted chocolate. Heat oven and add 8 C. boiling water to a pan and place on bottom oven shelf. This will provide moisture. Bake at 400°F. for 15 minutes, turn oven down to 225°F. and bake another 50 minutes. or until set in the center. Turn oven off and let cheesecake set with oven door cracked 1 hour. Chill

There wasn’t much ‘good news’ in the trivia today so I decided to throw in another recipe. Hope you enjoy !

TODAY’S SMILE

One stormy night many years ago, an elderly man and his wife entered the lobby of a small hotel in Philadelphia. Trying to get out of the rain, the couple approached the front desk hoping to get some shelter for the night.

"Could you possibly give us a room here?" the husband asked. The clerk, a friendly man with a winning smile, looked at the couple and explained that there were three conventions in town. "All of our rooms are taken," the clerk said. "But I can't send a nice couple like you out into the rain at one o'clock in the morning. Would you perhaps be willing to sleep in my room? It's not exactly a suite, but it will be good enough to make you folks comfortable for the night."

When the couple declined, the young man pressed on. "Don't worry about me; I'll make out just fine," the clerk told them. So the couple agreed. As he paid his bill the next morning, the elderly man said to the clerk, "You are the kind of manager who should be the boss of the best hotel in the United States. Maybe someday I'll build one for you."

The clerk looked at them and smiled. The three of them had a good laugh. As they drove away, the elderly couple agreed that the helpful clerk was indeed exceptional, as finding people who are both friendly and helpful isn't easy.

Two years passed. The clerk had almost forgotten the incident when he received a letter from the old man. It recalled that stormy night and enclosed a round-trip ticket to New York, asking the young man to pay them a visit. The old man met him in New York, and led him to the corner of Fifth Avenue and 34th Street. He then pointed to a great new building there, a palace of reddish stone, with turrets and watchtowers thrusting up to the sky. "That," said the older man, "is the hotel I have just built for you to manage."

"You must be joking," the young man said. "I can assure you I am not," said the older man, a sly smile playing around his mouth.

The older man's name was William Waldorf Astor, and the magnificent structure was the original Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. The young clerk who became its first manager was George C. Boldt.

This young clerk never foresaw the turn of events that would lead him to become the manager of one of the world's most glamorous hotels.

The Bible says that we are not to turn our backs on those who are in need, for we might be entertaining angels.

Life is more accurately measured by the lives you touch than the things you acquire...

God Bless You & Yours

TODAY’S WORD

Nostrum

\NAHSS-trum\ noun

1 : a medicine of secret composition recommended by its preparer but usually without scientific proof of its effectiveness

2 : a usually questionable remedy or scheme : panacea

Critics predict the mayor's plan to revitalize the downtown area by offering tax breaks to local businesses will prove a costly and ineffective nostrum.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.

Matthew 24:42

If you believe in God's Word, you need not be afraid of the future

I've read the last page of the Bible. It's all going to turn out all right.

Billy Graham
