ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

MARCH 2ND,2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Joy is the serious business of heaven.

C.S. Lewis

TODAY’S ACTION

Give your joy to others and it will come back to you.

TODAY’S QUOTE

A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor's book.

Irish Proverb

HAPPY FRIDAY

Another week has come to an end and I’m almost sure it was a good one.

DS#2 called last night to let me know he was home from a field exercise they had been on. He’s doing well and has lots to do before he deploys again in June sometime.

Tomorrow I’ll be spending the day with Dad. He’s still not able to stay by himself. The doctors have done more testing and he’s to have a specialist consult with him soon. We’ll know more then.

I’m having a little birthday celebration with some of the ‘babes’ this Sunday. They’ll be coming in for the day and taking me out to eat. I really don’t mind celebrating another birthday…just thankful for another year of blessings.

The weather man says today we may get more rain, mixed with snow and it’s going to get colder again. I still can’t see any grass yet in my yard. It’s still just a big snow pile.

Take good care all ! Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selflessacts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY IS…BOOT HILL DAY

Yes, it's Dodge City and Wyatt Earp! There was no law enforcement during the early years, but there were plenty of buffalo hunters, railroad workers and soldiers - and plenty of gunfights. Boot Hill was where they were "buried with their boots on". It's the most famous cemetery of the American West.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

1923: Time magazine made its debut. The first issue was 32 pages and featured a charcoal sketch of Congressman Joseph Gurney Cannon on the cover. The magazine was founded by Henry Luce and Briton Hadden.

1925: State and federal highway officials developed a nationwide route-numbering system and adopted the familiar U.S. shield-shaped, numbered marker.

1933: The motion picture "King Kong," starring Fay Wray, had its world premiere in New York at Radio City Music Hall and the RKO Roxy

TODAY’S SMILE

Do you or someone you know have a dog? Well, I recently learned a dog fact I thought you might like to know...

(Please don't hold me responsible for any truth contained herein).

The fact is simply this: If your dog is fat, you probably aren't getting enough exercise.

Do you have troubles that are causing you to gain weight? No, I'm not talking about physical weight, but spiritual weight...

Come unto me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. -Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus wants to help you become spiritually "fit." Remember the importance of exercising yourself spiritually, as well as physically...

For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. -I Timothy 4:8

TODAY’S WORD

incursion (noun)

[in-KUR-zhahn, in-KUR-shahn]

1. an aggressive movement into foreign territory; an invasion: "Our dog's daily incursion into the neighbor's lawn would have gone unnoticed, were it not for the substantial trailing evidence."

2. the act of flowing, running, or intruding into something; 'homes damaged by the incursion of floodwater.'

adjective form: incursive

TODAY’S REFLECTION

What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes of his mouth, that is what makes him unclean.

Matthew 15:10

It isn't enough to go to church and observe the rules of that institution. A man can be a pillar of the church, yet constantly criticize and thus make his wife and children miserable. That is the kind of action Jesus is describing.

When what we say or do comes from a heart filled with unconditional love, we are truly walking with our Savior. This will bring a blessing of closeness with family and friends.
