ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

JANUARY 31st, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.

Thomas A. Edison

TODAY’S ACTION

Lead by example.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.

Louisa May Alcott

HAPPY WEDNESDAY

OVER THE HUMP DAY !

SNOW SNOW AND MORE SNOW

Anywhere from 2 – 5 more inches of snow. Roads are terrible and more coming. East of us will get much more. I’ll be praying for safe driving for everyone.

Dad is still on ‘stand by’ for the pacemaker. Maybe Thursday they are saying.

Work was quiet yesterday and I just took it slow coming and going and will do the same today.

Take good care all !

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY IS…SCOTCH TAPE DAY

In 1921, a banjo playing inventor went to work for the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company, known as 3M. Four years later, Richard Drew walked out of his lab carrying the first roll of scotch tape. In 1930, he also created cellophane tape. Without this man, we'd still be wrapping up our Christmas packages with rope.

TODAY’S SMILE

Don't be a Couch Potato

I came across this exercise suggested to build muscle strength in the arms and shoulders. It's so easy, I thought I'd pass it on. The article suggested doing it three days a week.

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5-LB. potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides, and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, then relax.

Each day, you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb. potato sacks, then 50-lb. potato sacks, and eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb. potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.

Once you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Let us walk honestly.

Romans 13:13a

Christians have the opportunity of showing the world true honesty. When you correct a clerk who gives you too much change or you stay within the speed limit on the highway, you never know who is watching -- your children, your fellow worker or a total stranger. But most important, your Father in heaven sees you and says, "well-done, good and faithful servant."
