ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

TODAY'S THOUGHT
Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It's not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it's when you've had everything to do, and you've done it.
Margaret Thatcher
TODAY’S ACTION
Today start and end your day with prayer.
TODAY’S QUOTE
There is a hard law... that when a deep injury is done to us, we never recover until we forgive.

HAPPY SUNDAY
Today we are supposed to get much colder again and more snow. 1-3 inches they say. We’ll have highs in the low 20’s and lows in the teens all week. BRRRCHILL!
I’m hoping that we can go and visit my Dad again after church today. I’ll just have to wait and see how the roads are by then. Yesterday we found out the cause of his fever was Pneumonia. His temp was at normal yesterday, so we’ll be praying that it will stay that way.
I put some beans and ham (still leftover from Christmas ) in the slow cooker and made some fried cornbread so that will be my lunch this week. Bean soup is always good !
The week ahead brings our family’s last January Birthday. Our Star will be 7 tomorrow. Other than that and visiting my Dad it should be a quiet week with only work on the calendar.
Take good care all !
Have a great day ! Another wonderful one on the Way !
Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
TODAY IS…KAZOO LOVERS DAY
Rumors place the origins of this instrument with the Roman military Kazoo bands that led Caesar's legions against the hordes of Vercingetorix in 52 BC. True or not, blowing on a Kazoo was the way a nobelman serenaded his lady during the Middle Ages. To make your own sweet music, just put your mouth over one end and start humming your favorite tune. The louder, the better - unless the neighbors complain.
TODAY’S TRIVIA
Today is National Blueberry Pancake Day..

1902: The Carnegie Institute was established in Washington DC.
1956 - Elvis Presley made his first appearance on national television. No, he didn’t appear on some teenage dance show; but rather, The Dorsey Brothers Show, starring Tommy and Jimmy. Elvis sang Blue Suede Shoes and Heartbreak Hotel. He was backed by the instruments of the Dorsey band
TODAY’S SMILE
The Danger of Standing Alone
A few winters ago, heavy snows hit North Carolina. Following a wet, six-inch snowfall, it was interesting to see the effect along Interstate 40. Next to the highway stood several large groves of tall, young pine trees.
The branches were bowed down with the heavy snow--so low that branches from one tree were often leaning against the trunk or branches of another.
Where trees stood alone, however, the effect of the heavy snow was different. The branches had become heavier and heavier, and since there were no other trees to lean against, the branches snapped.
They lay on the ground, dark and alone in the cold snow.
When the storms of life hit, we need to be standing close to other Christians. The closer we stand, the more we will be able to hold up.
Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up.
Ecc 4:9-10
TODAY’S WORD
bedraggled
(adjective) [bi-DRAG-ahld]
1. wet, limp, and soiled as if dragged through mud: "Our bedraggled cat came in from the rain a grumpy mess and met the dog with a swat to the mug."
2. in deteriorated or deplorable condition; 'bedraggled tenements'
TODAY’S REFLECTION
Again Jesus asked, 'What shall I compare the kingdom of God to? It is like the yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large amount of flour until it worked all through the dough.
Luke 13:20
Note that in order for the yeast to be worked all through the dough, the woman had to "mix the dough." So it is with suffering, for even though God may not cause the suffering, he can use it to strengthen us, so that we may be able to help our neighbor.
Suffering may not be pleasant, but with God's help, it can have blessed results, both for you and for someone who is helped by you.
