ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

JANUARY 24TH, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

It is in our lives and not our words that our religion must be read. Thomas Jefferson

TODAY’S ACTION

Lead by example.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Every day is a new beginning. Treat it that way. Stay away from what might have been, and look at what can be. Marsha Petrie Sue

HAPPY WEDNESDAY

Over the Hump Day!

It’s very cold here, but the snow has held off and we have just had some off and on flurries that barely cover the ground

I have lots of people to pray for today and I hope you join me. Please pray for my Dad who was admitted to the hospital yesterday after they found an iregularity in his heart. I’ll know more later when they’ve checked him out today

Also please join me in praying for DS#2 and his family and for DDIL#6’s sister – all are going through some pretty rough times right now

and I’m praying for DS#1 too, he is still hobbling around on the ankle that he hurt sledding last Sunday.

Your prayers will be appreciated and I will be praying for all of you too !

And don’t forget…

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

God Bless you All !

TODAY IS…SQUARE DANCING DAY!

The early roots of square dancing were brought to the US by English and French settlers. America's only unique contribution was a caller to keep everyone in step.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

1908: The first Boy Scout troop was organized in England by Robert Baden-Powell.

1922: Christian K. Nelson patented the Eskimo Pie.

TODAY’S SMILE

A father and son went fishing one day. After a couple hours out in the boat, the boy suddenly became curious about the world around him. He asked his father, "How does this boat float?"

The father thought for a moment, then replied, "Don't rightly know, son."

The boy returned to his contemplation, then turned back to his father, "How do fish breath underwater?"

Once again the father replied, "Don't rightly know, son."

A little later the boy asked his father, "Why is the sky blue?" Again, the father replied. "Don't rightly know, son."

Worried he was going to annoy his father, he says, "Dad, do you mind my asking you all of these questions?"

"Of course not son. If you don't ask questions, you'll never learn anything!"

TODAY’S REFLECTION

“Love…bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

I CORINTHIANS 13:7

Wouldn’t it be nice if love were like a cafeteria line? What if you could look at the person with whom you live and select what you want and pass on what you don’t?

What if parents could do this with kids? “I’ll take a plate of good grades and cute smiles, and I’m passing on the teenage identity crisis and tuition bills.”

What if kids could do the same with parents? “Please give me a helping of allowances and free lodging but no rules or curfews, thank you.”

And spouse with spouse? “H’m, how about a bowl of good health and good moods. But job transfers, in-laws, and laundry are not on my diet.”

Wouldn’t it be great if love were like a cafeteria line? It would be easier. It would be neater. It would be painless and peaceful. But you know what? It wouldn’t be love.

Love doesn’t accept just a few things. Love is willing to accept all things.
