ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

JANUARY 30TH,2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

The soul would have no rainbow if the eye had no tear.

Robin Naifeh

TODAY’S ACTION

Forgive yourself when you fail.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Silently, like thoughts that come and go, the snowflakes fall, each one a gem.

W. H. Gibson

HAPPY TUESDAY

I took Monday off from work as we were told Sunday evening and Monday morning that Dad would have his surgery. I went along with my youngest sister to the hospital and sat and waited and waited somemore.

Afternoon came and so did the exasperating news that once again, he was cancelled as they were too backed up to get to him. I have no choice to go to work today as I can not rely on them to give us notice of when the pacemaker will be put in. I feel badly that I probably won’t be there when I should be but cannot continue to take off work.

We must have had about 4 inches of S--- Monday morning and may have more today. My nextdoor sister got the s---blower out and I got my shovel out so we had it cleared in no time as it was the light powdery kind of s--- that often comes when the temps are down to ‘O’ degrees. BrrrChill !

Everyone keep warm and safe.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way!

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY IS…THERMOS BOTTLE DAY

Why does a thermos keep hot things hot and cold things cold? There's a vacuum between the inner and outer layers of the bottle, so there is no movement of air. And with no air movement, there is almost no change in temperature. So... you don't have to break one open to see what's inside.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is National Croissant Day

1917: The Original Dixieland Jazz Band recorded "The Darktown Strutters' Ball." Many consider it the first jazz recording.

1933: The first radio broadcast of "The Lone Ranger" originated in Detroit. On that first program Tonto’s horse was named White Feller. The program ran for 2,956 episodes and ended in 1955.

1986 - The popular Love Stamp that pictured a little dog, went on sale this day. The U.S. postal stamp was the fifth in the continuing series. As of that date, more than 302 million Love Stamps had been sold.

TODAY’S SMILE

The Cowboy Boots:

(Anyone who has ever dressed a child will love this)

Did you hear about the Texas teacher who was helping one of her kindergarten students put on his cowboy boots? He asked for help, and she quickly found out why he needed it. Even with her pulling and him pushing, the little boots still didn't want to go on.

By the time they got the second boot on, she had worked up a sweat. She almost cried when the little boy said, "Teacher, they're on the wrong feet." She looked, and sure enough, they were. It wasn't any easier pulling the boots off than it was putting them on.

She managed to keep her cool as, together, they worked to get the boots back on, this time on the right feet. He then announced, "These aren't my boots. "She bit her tongue, rather than scream at him, "Why didn't you say so?"

Once again she struggled to help him pull the ill-fitting boots off his little feet. No sooner had they gotten the boots off his feet, when he said ... "They're my brother's boots. My Mom made me wear 'em."

Now she didn't know if she should laugh or cry. But she mustered up what grace and courage she had left to wrestle the boots on his feet again. Helping him into his coat, she asked, "Now, where are your mittens?" He said, "I stuffed 'em in the toes of my boots."

The teacher will be eligible for parole in three years.
