HAPPY THURSDAY

When I went into the hospital to see my Dad last evening a doctor came in and spoke to all of us. Dad will have a pace maker put in and should be fine. Right now he is hooked up to a lot of wires and is being monitored . They didn’t know exactly when the surgery would be done, but will call my sister and let her know if it is scheduled for tomorrow.

 My boss said I could have off when the surgery is, so I’ll be on call too. On the way home from the hospital the snow started falling. The are calling for 1 to 3 inches here and falling temps. I think by tonight it will be down to 12 degrees.

East of us will get more snow, and of course the hospital is east of us…Hopefully the roads will stay clear. I did get caught up on all my work just in case I have to miss today, we’ll see…

TODAY IS…COOKIE LEGEND DAY

A woman asked to buy a cookie recipe at Neiman Marcus and was told it cost "two-fifty" She thought this meant $2.50. When she got her credit card bill, she found out it was $250.00. Outraged, she spread the recipe far and wide for sweet revenge. True story? Who knows - but it's a great chocolate chip cookie!

1 cup butter

1 cup white sugar

1 cup packed brown sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 1/2 cups rolled oats

1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

4 ounces milk chocolate, grated

1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts

 Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

Cream together butter and sugars. Add eggs one at a time and mix well after each. Add the vanilla and mix well. Measure oatmeal into a blender or food processor, and then blend to a fine powder.

3)

In a separate bowl, mix together flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder and baking soda.

4)

Stir dry ingredients into creamed butter and sugar.

 5)

Add chocolate chips, grated chocolate and nuts.

6)

Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 6 - 8 minutes.
