ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

MAY 15th, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Yesterday is ashes; tomorrow is wood.

Only today does the fire burn brightly.

Old Eskimo proverb

TODAY’S ACTION

Let each day be your masterpiece.

TODAY’S QUOTE

When mothers talk about the depression of the empty nest, they're not mourning the passing of all those wet towels on the floor, or the music that numbs your teeth, or even the bottle of capless shampoo dribbling down the shower drain. They're upset because they've gone from supervisor of a child's life to a spectator. It's like being the vice-president of the United States.

HAPPY TUESDAY!

It will be warmer here today and then by evening we’re supposed to have some rain. Tomorrow we’ll be back down in the lower 60’s again. I did have fun with my dulcimer buddies last evening. We always laugh a lot and have fun. It was just what I needed.

However, I was up past my bedtime, so I’ll be paying for that one today.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…TONE DEAF DAY

Tone deafness means that everything sounds exactly the same. You can't tell one note from another, but even worse... you can't even hear the different inflections in someone's voice. It can make communicating difficult just like being color blind can make it hard to follow traffic lights. People make jokes about being tone deaf, but it's really very rare. Not being able to carry a tune in the shower doesn't qualify.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Never Turn Your Back on the Ocean Day

Why? Because it might be waving at you.

1940: Nylon stockings went on general sale for the first time in the United States.

TODAY’S WORD

jug·ger·naut noun.

1. Something, such as a belief or an institution, that elicits blind and destructive devotion or to which people are ruthlessly sacrificed. 2. An overwhelming, advancing force that crushes or seems to crush everything in its path

TODAY’S REFLECTION

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22

One of the best ways to keep your balance in this sometimes rocky life we lead is to maintain a good sense of humor. know that it isn't easy to laugh, when things look bleak.

But we Christians know that we have God's power within us: "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline" (II Timothy 1:7).

Positive faith can make your cup look half full rather than half empty and you can laugh through your tears. When you can do this, you have a good grip on life.

Father, please help me find something to smile about, even though the situation is difficult. Amen.
