Eleanor Roosevelt

TODAY’S ACTION

TODAY’S QUOTE

You only need three bones to journey successfully through life,

a wishbone to dream on, a backbone for strength and courage to get through the tough times, and a funny bone to laugh at life along the way

Duffy Daugherty

HAPPY SATURDAY!

After a busy day at home yesterday, I’ll be off now to spend the weekend with my Dad. My e-mail for Sunday will be later in the day, after I get home again.

We are promised some showers today and tomorrow, but the last forcast I saw said only 40% chance. So maybe it will, maybe it won’t. We really do need some rain as this past week’s warm weather really dried things out. If the rain doesn’t happen, we’ll have to be watering the lawn and flowers.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…CHERRY DESSERT DAY

Sweet cherries are mainly grown in the Pacific coast states and are either sold as fresh fruit or processed into maraschino cherries. Tart cherries (also called pie cherries), are best known as the key ingredient in desserts. They make excellent pies, jams, jellies, preserves and juice. About 75% of the tart cherries in the US are grown in Michigan.

1959: The word "Frisbee" became a registered trademark of the Wham-O company. The name had come from New Haven, Connecticut's, Frisbie Pie Company, whose drivers playedcatch with tin plates. Yale students reportedly yelled, "Frisbie!" to warn the catchers the tin was sailing in their direction. Historians can't agree on whether the original tossed tins held pies or Frisbie sugar cookies.

TODAY’S SMILE For those of you who never saw the Burma Shave signs, here is a quick lesson in USA history of the 1930's and '40's.

Before the interstates, when everyone drove the old two lane roads, Burma Shave signs would be posted along the road in the countryside. They were small red signs with white letters. Five signs, about 100 feet apart, each containing one line of a four line couplet . . . and the obligatory 5th sign advertising Burma Shave, a popular shaving cream.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.

Acts 16:25

Paul and Silas were severely beaten and thrown into prison, with their feet placed in cruel stocks. They surely had nothing about which to sing! Yet they trusted God.

When the Holy Spirit dwells within us, we need not have a crushed spirit. We can look for something amusing in our situation and thus be able to sing a song at midnight.

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones" (Proverbs 17:22).
