ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

MAY 5th, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Nothing can be more useful to you than a determination not to be hurried.

Henry David Thoreau

TODAY’S ACTION

Remember that life is not a competition, it is a journey.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Speak when you are angry--and you will make the best speech you'll ever regret.

Laurence J. Peter

HAPPY SATURDAY!

I’m off to spend the day with Dad and stay overnight with him too. He needs someone to be with him 24/7 right now. My Sunday morning e-mail will be a little late as I’ll be there and not here where the computer is.

We are having beautiful sunny weather right through the weekend. That is something to be thankful for. It seems like overnight things really are looking different out, the lilacs are blooming and the leaves on the trees are getting bigger and of course the grass is growing like wildfire.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that Iwill serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…MUSEUM LOVERS DAY

The first museum? Who knows. People have been saving things and sharing them with friends over the centuries. To accumulate items into one place may have first happened in lending libraries, but there were also traveling exhibitions for people to enjoy on market days. Today's museums are the holders of history, so... visit one soon!

TODAY’S SMILE

A teacher put this question to little John in the arithmetic class. "John, suppose your mother made a peach pie and there were 10 of you at the table... your mother and father and eight children... how much of the pie would you get?"

"A ninth, Ma'am," was the prompt answer.

"No John. Now pay attention," said the teacher. "There are 10 of you. Ten, remember. Don't you know your fractions?"

"Yes Ma'am," was the swift replay of little John, "I know my fractions, but I know my mother, too. She'd say that she didn't want any pie."

Mothers, your unselfishness makes an impression on the little ones

TODAY’S WORD

un·e·quiv·o·cal adjective.

Admitting of no doubt or misunderstanding;

clear and unambiguous:

an unequivocal success.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

But [the seed] on the good ground are they, which, in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Luke 8:15

In our scripture today, Jesus was explaining his story of the seed being planted on different types of ground. Notice that he describes people as having "an honest and good heart."

That is a good standard to set for ourselves, and God promises to reward it.

Lord, give me the discipline and virtue to always be known as an honest and godly person. Amen.
