TODAY'S THOUGHT

To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.

St. Thomas Aquinas

TODAY’S ACTION

Free yourself of yesterday's worries.

TODAY’S QUOTE

You will find as you look back upon your life that the moments when you have really lived are the moments when you have done things in a spirit of love

Henry Drummond

HAPPY THURSDAY!

It was a beautiful sunny day here yesterday and I think most of today will be the same. I didn’t get outside much as I was at work, but the coming and going was really nice.

They say Memorial Day is the unofficial beginning of summer. I’m so glad it’s finally warm here.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…ASPARAGUS DAY

Asparagus is one of nature's most perfect foods. A member of the lily family, it's a nutrient-dense food high in folic acid - and a good source of potassium, fiber, vitamin B6, vitamins A and C, and thiamin. It also has no fat, no cholesterol and is low in sodium. Under ideal conditions, an asparagus spear can grow 10 inches in a 24-hour period. What an over-achiever!

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is Brother's Day, a day to celebrate brotherhood

Today is National Escargot Day

(That’s a snail used as food ,in case you wondered, specially served in its shell with melted garlic butter)

1626: Peter Minuit bought Manhattan Island for $24 worth of beads, knives, axes, and clothes. He bought it from the Canarsees, who did not own it. The Canarsees inhabited what is now Brooklyn. The Weckquaesgeeks inhabited most of Manhattan, so the Canarsees made quite a deal.

1844 - Samuel F.B. Morse tapped out the message “What hath God wrought” in Morse Code. The development inaugurated America’s telegraph industry. The message was sent from Washington, DC to Baltimore, MD.

1883 - The Brooklyn Bridge, linking Manhattan and Brooklyn in New York City, officially opened. At the time, it was the world’s longest suspension bridge. It is held together with 5,296 bound-steel cables. The Brooklyn Bridge, designed by John A. Roebling, took 14 years to build. The span is 1,595 feet long, cost $16 million to construct

TODAY’S SMILE

THINGS AREN’T ALWAYS AS THEY SEEM

Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion’s guest room. Instead the angels were given a space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it.

When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied…”Things aren’t always what they seem”.

The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night’s rest.

When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field.

The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel, “How could you have let this happen!? The first man had everything, yet you helped him,” she accused. “The second family had little, but was willing to share everything, and you let their cow die.” “Things aren’t always what they seem,” the older angel replied.

“When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn’t find it.

Then last night as we slept in the farmers bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave her the cow instead.

Things aren’t always what they seem.”

Sometimes this is exactly what happens when things don’t turn out the way they should. If you have faith, you just need to trust that every outcome is always to your advantage. You might not know it until some time later.

God sees all sides of the picture while our Earthly view is very limited.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

In the first book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus did and taught from the beginning until the day when he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. After his suffering he presented himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. While staying with them, he ordered them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait there for the promise of the Father. "This," he said, "is what you have heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." Acts 1:1-5

Luke is telling Theophilus all about the days of the apostles and begins his story with Jesus’ departure When someone we love leaves us, it is sad. We fear being left behind, alone. But when Jesus left the earth, he left us only to go ahead of us, to prepare the way.

What has the Lord prepared for you today?

Mysterious God, your ways are higher than my ways The apostles didn’t know what you were about do, but submitted themselves to training. I am also in the dark many times, and yet try to submit myself to those things that will teach me how to be more like someone who is called by your name. Continue to teach me, mold me, and surprise me. Amen.
