ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

NOVEMBER 29TH,2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Charity never humiliated him who profited from it, nor ever bound him by the chains of gratitude, since it was not to him but to God that the gift was made.

Antoine De Saint-Exupery

TODAY’S ACTION

Be the subtle voice that helps another in need.

TODAY’S QUOTE

It has been my experience that folks who have no vices have very few virtues.

Abraham Lincoln

16th president of US (1809 - 1865)

 HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

This week is rolling right along – Over the Hump Day already! I’m not getting much done so far and feel like I’m still catching up on things. I did change into my December Purse a few days early, I’ll put a picture of it on the journal page come December 1st. It’s the largest one of the 12 purses of 2006. I figured it needed to be spectacular in some respect. I can’t believe how fast this year has gone by.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY IS…TURKEY LEFTOVER DAY!

It's not just Thanksgiving - Think of it as... TURKEY LEFTOVER SEASON

Cooks struggling with the question of what to do with all of that turkey, deserve their own special day!

TURKEY ENCHILADAS

3 cups chopped turkey

2 cups picante sauce

2 (3 oz) pkgs cream cheese, cubed

1 cup sliced green onion

1 1/2 tsp ground cumin

1/2 tsp oregano

3 cups shreded Monterry Jack cheese

8 (8") flour tortillas

Combine the turkey, half of the picante sauce, cream cheese, onion, cumin and oregano in a skillet. Place over low heat until the cheese melts. Stir in 1 cup of shredded Monterry Jack cheese. Spoon mixture evenly onto the tortillas. Roll up and place with the seam side down in a greased baking dish. Spoon over the rest of the picante sauce and sprinkle on the rest of the cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is National Square Dance Day.

Today is National Chocolates Day

The Grammy Awards were shown on network television for the first time on this night in 1959.

1877: Thomas Edison demonstrated his invention, a hand-cranked phonograph that recorded sound on grooved metal cylinders. Edison shouted verses of "Mary Had a Little Lamb" into the machine, which played back his voice.

1959: Bobby Darin won two Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Record of the Year for his hit single "Mack the Knife."

1963: After a million records had been ordered in England in advance, the Beatles released "I Want to Hold Your Hand." It was their 5th single in England.

1969: Elvis Presley recorded "Don't Cry, Daddy," with blind background singer Ronnie Milsap.

TODAY’S SMILE

 PHILTRUM

What is a philtrum? This is a frequently asked trivia question. The vertical crease on the mouth above the upper lip is called a philtrum. Trivia lovers and biologists probably already know this. But why do we have one?

A Pennsylvania folktale says that before a baby is born, it knows all the secrets of life and death. At the moment of birth an angel presses his forefinger against the baby's upper lip. This seals the lip of the baby. The baby no longer can speak of the secrets, and the crease is there for the rest of their life.

TODAY’S WORD

repudiate (transitive verb)

[ri-PYOO-dee-ayt']

2. to reject or condemn emphatically as false or unfounded

3. to refuse to acknowledge or to pay; to disclaim:

" Chris seethed with anger when he received his cell phone bill, which was once again thirty dollars higher than he thought possible, and he resolved to repudiate the extra charges."

4. to cast off or disown, as to have nothing to do with; to disavow; to renounce

adjective form: repudiative

TODAY’S REFLECTION

The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

Matthew 7:25

There are two lessons to be learned from Jesus' parable. First of all, enjoy today! Leave the worries of yesterday behind and avoid wasting time worrying about tomorrow. You can enjoy today, no matter what, if your house is built upon the rock of faith. Second, when your house is built upon that rock, you will have the strength to survive anything that challenges you. Anything!
