ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

NOVEMBER 17TH, 2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Each today, well lived, makes yesterday a dream of happiness and each tomorrow a vision of hope. Look, therefore, to this one day, for it and it alone is life.

TODAY’S ACTION

Observe the loveliness of a wintry scene. Each snowflake, like each human being, is special and has its own individual characteristics

TODAY’S QUOTE

You need to be aware of what others are doing, applaud their efforts, acknowledge their successes, and encourage them in their pursuits. When we all help one another, everybody wins

Jim Stovall

HAPPY FINALLY F R I DAY

I’m anxious for this day to be over so I can get back home and continue trying to get the house ready for DS#4 and his family. They will be here sometime tomorrow afternoon. He’s a great Ohio State Football fan and wants to be here before the game begins.

I’ve still got some groceries to pick up and the beds to make along with the usual cleaning and dusting. I want to be able to sit and relax and enjoy my company .

It’s going to be a great weekend !

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY IS…TAKE A HIKE DAY !

Doctors say walking is the most important part of a healthy life! We care about you, so check out the Hiking and Walking Homepage - plus the Preventions Walking Club!

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is Homemade Bread Day, a day to make bread at home

Today is National Baklava Day

1962: The 4 Seasons, with Frankie Valli as lead singer, began the first of five weeks at the top of the tunedex with "Big Girls Don't Cry.

TODAY’S SMILE

A nursery school teacher was delivering a station wagon full of kids home one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the fire truck was a Dalmatian dog.

The children fell to discussing the dog's duties. "They use him to keep crowds back," said one youngster. "No," said another, "he's just for good luck."

A third child brought the argument to a close. "They use the dogs," she said firmly, "to find the fire hydrant."

TODAY’S WORD

stentorian (adjective)

[sten-TOR-ee-ahn]

1. (of a voice) loud, powerful, or booming; 'a stentorian voice': "The substitute teacher's stentorian hello made the whole class jump."

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him.

Deuteronomy 30: 19-20

We all want to live the best life we can, but sometimes we choose the wrong way to attain it. Today's scripture gives us three steps to attain life:

Love the Lord God. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind" (Luke 10:27)

Listen to his voice. "His sheep follow him because they know his voice" (John 10:4).

Hold fast to him. "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10).

Hope you really enjoy your visit with your son and his family.  We are currently enjoying our daughter's visit with her 20 month old son.  There is nothing like a like grandchild to bring life to the house.  We took him to see Santa (yes he is already at the Mall) and have his photo taking today.  It turned out really well.  They will be traveling from our house in Maryland to Parris Island, SC to spend Thanksgiving with their Marine Sgt. who is attending Drill Instructor School.  This will be the first Thanksgiving that they have been physically together in four years.  Again, enjoy your visit.  Phyllis
