ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

NOVEMBER 20TH, 2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that.

Martin Luther King

TODAY’S ACTION

Believe that the darkest of darkness is never too dark for God. God is always willing to bring light and hope into our lives and in particular into our darkness.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Memories of our lives, of our works and our deeds will continue in others.

Rosa Parks

HAPPY MONDAY

Back to Work! The news this morning is that I have a new e-mail address Now it is marainey1@oh.rr.com

The transition between Comcast and Time Warner is finally completed. So…make the change in your address book. Quiet sort of Sunday for me. We went to church and then had a short visit with my dad, came home and had lunch, put the babes down for a nap and then DS#4 and his wife went over to visit with DD. We had a late supper of beef and noodles and played for awhile with the boys before it was bed time . It’s so nice to have people around my house.

Sad to say I’m off to work this morning. I don’t have off until Thursday and Friday this week. We’ll be celebrating our family feast of Thanksgiving on Saturday. Dinner should be sometime between 4 and 4:30 , but I’m hoping everyone comes early so that they can visit a while.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful day on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders. Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY’S SMILE

The only consolation you have in cooking for two days before Thanksgiving is that you usually don't have to cook for a week afterward.

12 DAYS OF THANKSGIVING

On the First Day..... We give thanks for the fresh turkey feast and its hot trimmings.

On the Second Day..... We bless the cold turkey sandwiches, slushy cranberry sauce, and hard rolls.

On the Third Day..... We praise the turkey pie and vintage mixed veggies.

On the Fourth Day..... We thank the pilgrims for not serving bison that first time, or we'd be celebrating Thanksgiving until April.

On the Fifth Day..... We gobble up cubed bird casserole and pray for a glimpse of a naked turkey carcass.

On the Sixth Day..... We show gratitude (sort of) to the creative cook who slings cashews at the turkey and calls it Oriental.

On the Seventh Day..... We forgive our forefathers and pass the turkey-nugget pizza.

On the Eighth Day..... The word ''vegetarian'' keeps popping into our heads.

On the Ninth Day..... We check our hair to make sure we're not beginning to sprout feathers.

On the Tenth Day..... We hope that the wing meat kabobs catch fire under the broiler.

On the Eleventh Day..... We smile over the creamed gizzard because the thigh bones are in sight.

On the Twelfth Day..... We apologize for running out of turkey leftovers....and everybody says Amen!!!

Thanksgiving is full of traditions: carving the turkey ... being with family ... sleeping through football games.....

TODAY’S WORD

esurient

\ih-SUR-ee-unt\ adjective :

hungry, greedy

Esurient for an even larger share of the local real estate market, the developer made an aggressive bid for the apartment complex

"Esurient" can be used somewhat playfully to suggest an actual hunger for food, but it is more often applied to such things as wealth or power. In the latter contexts, it takes on the connotation of "greedy."

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights.

James 1:17

We , as God’s children, can let ourselves enjoy without guilt the good things He sends our way (1 Tim. 6:17).

We, in turn, can use those good gifts to bless others

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

Gratitude preserves old friendships and procures new.

INDIAN SUMMER ENDS

St. Martin's Day, November 11, is considered the beginning of Indian Summer, a period of warm weather following a cold spell or hard frost. Although there are differing dates for Indian Summer, for 208 years The Old Farmer's Almanac has adhered to the saying "If All Saints brings out winter, St. Martin's brings out Indian Summer." Indian Summer can occur between St. Martin's Day and November 20. If we don't have a spell of fine weather during that time, there's no Indian Summer. As for the origin of the term, some say it comes from the early Native Americans, who believed that the condition was caused by a warm wind sent from the court of their southwestern god, Cautantowwit.

31 DAYS UNTIL WINTER !

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart

Psalm 37:4

I Love You All !!!

Be Blessed !!!
