TODAY’S QUOTE

Remember the day's blessings; forget the day's troubles.

HAPPY THURSDAY AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING

The first day of my 4 day weekend is finally here. It’s sooooo good not to have to go to work this morning ! I needed a vacation day badly.

DS#4 and his family are planning to visit some friends this afternoon and then we’ll all be going over to DS#5’s house for awhile.

Hope you all have a great day !

Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY IS…EAT A CRANBERRY DAY

One of only a few native North American fruits, the cranberry was an important staple long before the Pilgrims arrived. Native Americans, who referred to cranberries as sassamanash, made cakes prepared with lean, dried strips of meat pounded into paste and mixed with animal fat, grains and cranberries. Because of the vitamin C content of cranberries, captains of the early sailing ships supplied their sailors with cranberries to prevent scurvy.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is Thanksgiving Day in the U.S., by presidential proclamation. Thanksgiving was observed throughout New England as a religious holiday even before the American Revolution. Then it spread to the middle states and the West, and finally to the South after the Civil War

The Daytona Turkey Run begins today. It's a car show for models 1980 and older

What two NFL football teams traditionally host games every Thanksgiving Day?

The Detroit Lions have hosted a game every Thanksgiving since 1934 (except 1939-1944 during World War II). The Dallas Cowboys have hosted a game every Thanksgiving Day since 1966 (except 1975 and 1977).

TODAY’S SMILE

Fulton Oursler learned to thankful from a black lady who helped care for him when he was a little boy. Every time she sat down to eat, she bowed her head and said, "Much obliged, Lord."

Oursler asked her why she did this. The food was there for her to enjoy whether she gave thanks or not. She replied, "Sure, we get our vittles, but it makes everything taste better to be grateful."

Many years later Oursler stood at the bedside of that woman as she lay dying. Seeing her in much pain, he wondered if she still could find something to be grateful for. Just then she opened her eyes.

When she saw him and the others gathered around, she folded her hands and said with a smile, "Much obliged, Lord, for such fine friends."

TODAY’S REFLECTION

‘I tell you the truth,’ Jesus said, ‘this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.

Luke 21:3-4

Bible tells us that this poor widow put only two small coins in the collection – I’m sure they were not noticed among all the larger donations. But Jesus saw her and appreciated what she had done.

We are quick to notice when someone does something wrong, but often slow to express appreciation to one who works hard to do good. Jesus’ tells us that God sees our every good deed and says “Thank you.”

I thank thee, God, and like a child

Rejoice as for a Christmas gift,

That I am living – just alive –

Just for this human face I wear,

That Ican see the sun, the sea,

The hills and grass and leafy trees,

And walk beneath the host of stars

And watch the lovely moon above.”
