HAPPY MONDAY

It was a gloomy, chilly day here yesterday. Today the sunshine is supposed to make an appearance! I hoping so! On the way home from work last night I got 2 new tires on my car. Back in October when I had the 50,000 mile check up they told me that they were badly needed before winter. So…I can check that one off my list.

Here is the update on DDIL#5’s Dad- -they found he has 100% blockage in his front heart artery and 95% blockage on his carotid artery. He will be getting a stint in his heart artery and an angioplasty in his carotid on Friday at the bright early hour of 6am.

Please continue to pray for him and a successful surgery.

God Bless You !

And please continue to pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY IS…SPICY GUACAMOLE DAY

Holey Moley! - It's The World's Best Guacamole Recipe!

Called ahuacatl by the Aztecs, avocados grew wild throughout Central America and Mexico as early as 900 AD. In fact, archeologists have found pottery with images of avocados from this time period. And they are SO good for you!

4 ripe avocadoes (must be ripe - peel and core)

2 limes (squeeze juice - fresh is best-not bottled)

6 green onions (the long skinny ones chopped thin)

2 small tomatos (diced)

1 garlic glove (smash it thoroughly)

Drop of Tequila

1/2 cup cilantro (chopped fine)

1/2 cup green salsa

1/2 teaspoon ground roasted cumin salt and fresh ground pepper to taste

1/2 teaspoon chili pepper

Dash of tabasco

TOPPING

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup cheddar cheese, grated

1/2 cup pitted black olives, chopped

Mash the avocadoes with a potato masher. Using a fork, whisk in the remaining ingredients. Place the guacamole in a medium serving dish. Cover the entire surface with a layer of sour cream, so that there is no green showing. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top. Sprinkle on the olives. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least 1 hour before serving. Serve with the Authentic Mexican Nachos

TODAY’S SMILE

Around The Table One Thanksgiving season a family was seated around their table, looking at the annual holiday bird. From the oldest to the youngest, they were to express their praise.

When they came to the 5-year-old in the family, he began by looking at the turkey and expressing his thanks to the turkey, saying although he had not tasted it he knew it would be good.

After that rather novel expression of thanksgiving, he began with a more predictable line of credits, thanking his mother for cooking the turkey and his father for buying the turkey. But then he went beyond that. He joined together a whole hidden multitude of benefactors, linking them with cause and effect. He said, "I thank you for the checker at the grocery store who checked out the turkey. I thank you for the grocery store people who put it on the shelf. I thank you for the farmer who made it fat. I thank you for the man who made the feed. I thank you for those who brought the turkey to the store."

Using his Columbo-like little mind, he traced the turkey all the way from its origin to his plate. And then at the end he solemnly said "Did I leave anybody out?" His 2-year-older brother, embarrassed by all those proceedings, said, "God."

Solemnly and without being flustered at all, the 5-year-old said, "I was about to get to him."

Well, isn't that the question about which we ought to think at Thanksgiving time? Are we really going to get to him this Thanksgiving?

TODAY’S REFLECTION

How great is God -- beyond our understanding! The number of his years is past finding out. Listen! Listen to the roar of his voice, to the rumbling that comes from his mouth. God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.

Job 36:26, 37:2, 5

We can not speak for God. We cannot put words in His mouth. His power is awesome. His presence is awesome. God is in control - when He speaks we should listen. Be listening for his voice. Perhaps it will thunder in our hearts.

The highest knowledge that we can have of God in this life is to know that He is above all we can think concerning Him.

St. Thomas Aquinas De Veritate, 1259
