ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

 NOVEMBER 25TH, 2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Where you came from is not nearly as important as where you are going.

TODAY’S ACTION

Be thankful for all you are learning, and grateful to all those who are teaching you.

TODAY’S QUOTE

What we say is important for in most cases the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

HAPPY SATURDAY

Today we all gather as a family to celebrate Thanksgiving. Our family now numbers 26 and as we’re missing DS#2 and his family there will be 21 of us in this old house today. Talk about wall to wall people—that’s what we’ll be having. 3 tables will be set for dinner. The dining room and living room will be one long row of people. Thankfully the large archway dividing the two rooms makes it seem like one big room anyway. I’ll take lots of pictures and post them on the journal page tomorrow for you all to see. It should be lots of fun for all ! They all love to get together !

Have a great day ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY IS…SHOPPING REMINDER DAY!

Only 24 more shopping days till XMAS! Okay, okay... we don't really know many days you've got to shop. Do you live where the malls are open on weekends - and how about nights? Still, it's time to make that Christmas list.

YIKES!

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is National Parfait Day Today is Plan Your Dagwood Sandwich Day, a day to admit you've always wanted to build a Dagwood sandwich and eat it and to devise a detailed plan of how to make it this weekend with Thanksgiving leftovers.

Today is Shopping Reminder Day, a reminder that Christmas is one month from today

1884: John B. Meyenberg of St Louis patented evaporated milk.

1949: "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer" appeared on the music charts this day and became THE musical hit of the Christmas season. Although Gene Autry's rendition is the most popular, 80 different versions of the song have been recorded, with nearly 20,000,000 copies sold.

1973: Maximum speed limits were cut to 55 MPH this day, by U.S. Presidential order. It was an energy conservation measure and was also intended to save an estimated 9,000 lives each year.

TODAY’S SMILE

Leftover Turkey Jokes

The mother took her 5-year-old son with her when she went to vote. The voting area was in a nursing home dining room that was decorated for Thanksgiving with colorful pictures of turkeys on the walls. As they waited in line for her to cast her ballot, her son asked, "Mom, which turkey are you voting for?"

What did the mother turkey say to her disobedient children?

If your father could see you now, he'd turn over in his gravy!

What key has legs and can't open doors?

A Turkey.

As someone has said, "If God had meant for us to fast on Thanksgiving, he would never have created 30-pound turkeys.

TODAY’S WORD

menagerie (noun)

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.

John 7:38

The Bible tells us that Jesus was referring to the Holy Spirit, which those who believe were to receive. We are made in the image of God and through the work and sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we have the opportunity to become channels through which God's "living water" flows to others.

When you truly believe, the Holy Spirit will dwell in you and give you the wisdom and compassion to be a conduit of God's love to others who need it so much. You'll take time to listen to them, to pray for them -- to be there for them
