A person with two watches is never quite sure.

HAPPY WEDNESDAY

Finally it’s the last day of this work week ! I will now have 4 days off !

Tonite DS#4 is going to make the Sausage Bread for our family Thanksgiving feast on Saturday. Yumm…I’ll have to take some pictures to share with you all !

Thursday we are planning to visit DS#5 and his wife for a while

Friday we are going to ‘Christmas in the Colonies’ which has become an annual event in our family. We go to an old fashion craft fair and have a delicious lunch at our favorite restaurant and then we visit the Candle Factory that is near by. A perfect way to begin the Christmas Season.

Years ago my old ‘camping buddy’ introduced me to this festive tradition. I like it better than going shopping with the crowd. Most of all I like the companionship of my family and friends.

Did you know that they are now calling the Friday after Thanksgiving ‘Black Friday’?? Oh dear….

Then Saturday will be our family celebration.

I know the time will fly by, but I’m going to enjoy every moment of it.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY IS…TURKEY 101 DAY

It's down to the wire - did you forget anything? Thanksgiving can be painless with our Turkey Tips

BAKING YOUR TURKEY

Make an aluminum foil cap that covers the top of the bird and lay it over the top - press the foil lightly at the ends of the drum sticks and the neck. Place in over at 325 degrees - baste occasionally. Foil will be removed before the last 30 minutes of roasting to brown the bird. When foil is removed for browning also remove the skewers or cut band holding legs. Roast the turkey until the meat thermometer registers 180 to185 degrees in the thigh. This will show you approximate cooking times, but in all cases the thermometer is your best indicator. Weight Cooking

Time 6 to 8 pounds 3 to 3 1/2 hours 8 to 12 pounds 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours 12 to 16 pounds 4 to 5 hours 16 to 20 pounds 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 hours 20 to 24 pounds 5 to 6 1/2 hours

Check the drumstick which should twist easily in the socket and the thickest part of the turkey should be be soft. Remove from oven and cover loosely with new foil. Let stand 15 minutes before slicing.

If all else fails call: Butterball: 800-323-4848

Foster Farms: 800-255-7227

Reynolds: 800-745-4000 USD

A Poulty Hot Line: 800-535-4555

HANDLING LEFTOVERS

As soon as possible after serving, remove all stuffing from the turkey. Refrigerate turkey meat, stuffing and gravy promptly (store separately). Serve leftover stuffing and gravy within one or two days. Reheat before serving. Do not serve leftover turkey meat after three day. Frozen turkey can be kept up to three weeks.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

JFK Remembered Day: Generations recall watching CBS TV on this day in 1963. The popular soap operal As The World Turns was interrupted by a bulletin from Dallas. A voice informed the nation that President John F. Kennedy had been gravely wounded during a motorcade through downtown Dallas, Texas.

1910 - Arthur F. Knight of Schenectady, New York patented the steel shaft. Not a big shaft, actually, but one to replace the less durable hickory wood shafts used to that time -- in golf clubs

1955: Elvis Presley received a $5,000 bonus for signing with RCA records and spent it all on a new Cadillac, a pink one, for his mother.

1975 - Dr. Zhivago appeared on TV for the first time. The production, including Somewhere My Love, had earned $93 million from theatre tickets over ten years. NBC paid $4 million for the broadcast rights

TODAY’S SMILE

"I do not have to thank anyone for anything I have," an old miser grumbled. "Everything I have I got the hard way-by the sweat of my own brow."

"But who gave you the sweat?" asked his neighbor.

The old miser hung his head in guilty silence. He could not ignore the fact that God had given the "sweat," the strength to work hard and gain material wealth.

Yes, everything that we are or that we possess is because of God's loving kindness. Therefore, it is good for us all to pause at least once a year and say, "Thank You, God." Actually, everyday should be one of thanksgiving. Why? Because of spiritual and material blessings.

Mrs. Green thanked Tom, the grocery boy, for delivering a loaf of bread. "Do not thank me. Thank Grocer Jones," Tom smiled. "He gave me the loaf to deliver." But when she thanked the grocer, he said, "I get the bread from Baker Brown. He makes it, so he deserves the thanks."

So Mrs. Green thanked the baker. But he told her that Miller Milligan should be given the gratitude. "Without Miller Milligan's flour, I could not make bread," Brown replied. The miller told her to thank Farmer Foster because he made the flour from Foster's wheat.

But the farmer also protested, "Don't thank me; thank God," Foster said. "If He did not give my farm sunshine and rain, I could not grow wheat."

Yes, even a common loaf of bread can be traced back to God, the Giver of "every good and perfect gift" (Josh. 1:17).

TODAY’S REFLECTION

I came to give life—life in all its fullness.

John 10:10

Christianity, celebrates God’s great descent. His nature does not trap him in heaven, but leads him to earth. In God’s great gospel, he not only sends, he becomes; he not only looks down, he lives among; he not only talks to us, he lives with us as one of us.
