TODAY'S THOUGHT
A good laugh is sunshine in a house.
William Makepeace Thackery
TODAY’S ACTION
Find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings
TODAY’S QUOTE
A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.
Washington Irving
HAPPY SUNDAY
AND HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! !
MOTHER'S PRAYER
Lord, for my children I would pray
That they may seek Thee every day
Through life, with all its storms and stress
Its sorrows, grief and bitterness.
In disappointments fly to Thee
For comfort, strength and sympathy.
And never find a truer friend,
But love and serve Thee to the end.
That they may take Thee as their Guide,
To lead them all the way beside;
Their Counsellor when troubled o'er
The many problems at youth's door.
If overwhelmed by dark despair,
Oh teach them how through faith and prayer
To crush this subtle devil's snare
And rest within Thy loving care.
For them no dizzy heights of fame I crave,
nor great and worldly gain,
In humble service let them aim
To spread the honor of Thy name.
That in this dark world may they shine
Their lives reflect Love Divine
Their object now their pleasure then,
Obedience to Thy will.
Amen.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful day on the Way !
Mothers Day Peace Proclaimation
Julia Ward Howe
Arise then...women of this day!
Arise, all women who have hearts!
Whether your baptism be of water or of tears!
Say firmly: "We will not have questions answered by irrelevant
agencies,
Our husbands will not come to us, reeking with carnage,
For caresses and applause.
Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn
All that we have been able to teach them of charity,
mercy and patience.
We, the women of one country,
Will be too tender of those of another country
To allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs."
From the voice of a devastated
Earth a voice goes up with
Our own. It says: "Disarm! Disarm!
The sword of murder is not the balance of justice."
Blood does not wipe our dishonor,
Nor violence indicate possession.
As men have often forsaken the plough and the anvil
At the summons of war,
Let women now leave all that may be left of home
For a great and earnest day of counsel.
Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead.
Let them solemnly take counsel with each other as to the means
Whereby the great human family can live in peace...
Each bearing after his own time the sacred impress, not of
Caesar, But of God - In the name of womanhood and humanity,
I earnestly ask
That a general congress of women without limit of nationality,
May be appointed and held at someplace deemed most
convenient
And the earliest period consistent with its objects,
To promote the alliance of the different nationalities,
The amicable settlement of international questions,
The great and general interests of peace
TODAY IS…MOTERCYCLE DAY
Gottlieb Daimler (who later formed the Daimler-Benz Corporation) built the first motorcycle in 1885. It had one wheel in the front, one in the back plus spring-loaded outrigger wheels on each side. It was made mostly of wood with iron-banded, wooden-spoked wheels. It was powered by a single-cylinder engine, and probably had a spray-type carburetor. Rumor has it that the bike provided a "bone crusher" ride.
TODAY’S TRIVIA
Mother's Day
Although the custom of setting aside a day to honor mothers has ancient roots, our observance of Mother's Day originated in 1907 with the efforts of a devoted daughter, Anna M. Jarvis of Philadelphia, who conceived the idea of an annual nationwide celebration. The public and the press quickly embraced the idea, and villages, towns, cities, and states soon began unofficial Mother's Day observances. On May 8, 1914, President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating the second Sunday in May Mother's Day, and within a few years, the idea gained worldwide prominence.
Star Wars Day - Celebrate the birthday of George Lucas, who brought us the Star Wars trilogy (now the prequel), by working to establish a true human presence in space. Lucas was born in 1944 in Modesto, California, a town he immortalized in American Grafiti
Stars and Stripes Forever Day - In 1897, John Philip Sousa's march was performed for the first time
1804: The Lewis and Clark expedition to explore the Louisiana Purchase left St. Louis. The expedition started up the Missouri in a 55 foot covered keelboat and two small craft
1853: Gail Borden applies for patent for making condensed milk
1878: The trademark name of Vaseline - for a brand of petroleum jelly - was registered by Robert A. Chesebrough - of Chesebrough-Pond's, USA, Co.
1897: As a statue of George Washington was unveiled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, John Philip Sousa's march, "The Stars and Stripes Forever," was performed for the first time. President McKinley attended the ceremony.
TODAY’S SMILE
A mother I know had spent the whole summer in the company of her children, thinking only of their needs. On her return in the fall she went for the first time in months to an adult dinner party. To her horror she discovered that, to start conversation with the distinguished man next to her, she said automatically, I bet I can finish my soup sooner than you can
By and large, mothers and housewives are the only workers who do not have regular time off. They are the great vacationless class.
Anne Morrow Lindbergh
No matter how old a mother is, she watches her middle-aged children for signs of improvement
TODAY’S WORD
den·i·grate verb.

TODAY’S REFLECTION
As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you...
Isaiah 66:13
Can you remember how soothing it was to run to your Mother's arms, when you fell and skinned your knee? Even as an adult, it is comforting to hear Mom's voice when things go wrong
You have a God who loves you more than you can imagine. You are very important to our Lord. You are special, made in the image of God. When you trust in him, as a baby trusts its mother, your life can become peaceful and hopeful
