TODAY'S THOUGHT

No language can express the power and beauty and heroism of a mother's love.

Edwin H. Chapin

TODAY’S ACTION

TODAY’S QUOTE

For the ignorant, old age is as winter; for the learned, it is a harvest.

Jewish proverb

HAPPY FRIDAY!

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DSIL !

May the dear Lord bless you today and always ! I can’t mix up the numbers on this SIL because I only have one and he’s my favorite!

I got an early Mother’s Day gift yesterday - DS#4 and his family sent me flowers at work. I left them there til this evening then I’ll bring them home for the weekend. I also received an e-greeting from one of my friends that is also a mom. Thank you all !

Saturday the Newly Weds will be in town for what she hopes is her last orthodontist appointment and they will probably be taking me to lunch and if the weather is nice, we might go to the flea market. That is always a fun thing to do.

It looks like a pretty good weekend ahead. Cool and rainy but we’ll be making our own sunshine here.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS LIMERICK DAY

Most of the poems you've read were probably written by someone like Robert Frost or Edna St.Vincent Millay, but not all poetry is about nature or love. Limericks are short, rhythmic poems that are usually funny (but not always clean) - and they have been making people laugh for centuries. Did they originate in Limerick, Ireland? We don't know for sure, but a town filled with poetic Irishmen sounds like a good explanation for the term.

Edward Lear was born on this day in 1812 in Highgate, England. Lear was a poet and a talented illustrator. A big champion of the limerick (which dates back to the early 18th century), Lear wrote Edward Lears Book of Nonsense and other such amusing pieces. The Nonsense book especially helped the limerick to become very popular. The limerick is the only fixed-verse form indigenous to the English language.

Here is a Limerick for you to enjoy

There once was a man named Nation,

Who worked for a radio station.

Although he was tall,

His hands were too small,

Wee paws for station identification

TODAY’S SMILE

Two teens were talking to each other and were overheard saying…

Can people predict the future with cards?

My mother can.

 Really?

Yes, she takes one look at my report card and tells me what will happen

When my father gets back home

The sole purpose of a child's middle name is so he can tell when he's really, really in trouble.

TODAY’S WORD

ca·pri·cious adjective.

Characterized by or subject to whim; impulsive and unpredictable. Synonym arbitrary

TODAY’S REFLECTION

I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice.

2 Timothy 1:5

The importance of a godly mother's role in the life of a child cannot be overemphasized. Think of Timothy, for example, the young man the apostle Paul considered his spiritual son and a valuable partner in ministry. In his second letter to him, Paul recalled how Timothy had been influenced by "the genuine faith" of his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice

God used two generations of loving mothers to prepare Timothy for the crucial work he would have in spreading the gospel and establishing congregations of believers in Christ

Let's praise the Lord for mothers who not only care for their children physically but also nurture them spiritually.

Mothers like that are indispensable!

From Our Daily Bread

No man is poor who has had a godly mother.

Abraham Lincoln

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

For long-lasting blooms, pick flowers in the late afternoon, when the leaves and stems contain the most sugar

40 DAYS UNTIL SUMMER !

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart

Psalm 37:4

I Love You All !!!

Be Blessed !!!
