HAPPY SATURDAY !

This morning DD and I are off to DS#1’s house. This afternoon is our Princess’s Dance Recital. Of course I’ll be taking lots of pictures for you to see! She tells me that this year’s costume is blue ! It should be a fun day and I think the sun is going to shine!

Today is Armed Forces Day

Each year, in May, we pause as a nation to reflect on the unity and common purposes of the United States Armed Forces, and to honor those dedicated American men and women who serve selflessly, in both times of peace and conflict, preserving our liberty God bless you here today who have lived and are living the noble lives of soldiers.

Warriors, healers, builders and peacekeepers, these are the members of our Armed Forces. They dedicate their lives to the service of our nation.

Thank you as well to all who gave some part of themselves in support of those who have been a part of this noble profession of arms

Please join me in praying for all those in the military.

Our Father, up in heaven, hear this fervent prayer

May the people of all nations be united in thy care.

For earth's peace and man's salvation can come only by

Thy grace

And not through bombs and missiles and our quest for outer

space.

For until all men recognize that "The Battle is the Lord's"

And peace on earth cannot be won with strategy and swords.

We will go on vainly fighting, as we have in ages past

Finding only empty victories and a peace that cannot last.

But we've grown so rich and mighty and so arrogantly strong,

We no longer ask in humbleness "God, show us where we're wrong"

We have come to trust completely in the power of man-made things,

Unmindful of God's mighty power and that He Is "King of Kings"

We have turned our eyes away from Him to go our selfish way,

And money, power and pleasure are the gods we serve today.

And the good green earth God gave us to peacefully enjoy,

Through greed and fear and hatred we are seeking to destroy.

Oh, Father, up in heaven, stir and wake our sleeping souls,

Renew our faith and lift us up and give us higher goals.

And grant us heavenly guidance as war threatens us again

For, more than guided missiles, all the world needs guided men.

Please join me in lighting a candle for them and a moment of prayer.

God Bless & Keep All

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS…PICK STRAWBERRIES DAY

Stawberries are a member of the rose family and were grown in ancient Rome. The variety we know today comes from Northern Europe where it was a popular and prevalent fruit. Since the berries seem to be strewn among the leaves of the plant, they were originally named "strewberry". Farmers always took them to market on beds of straw, so the name was later changed to strawberry

STRAWBERRY DREAM PIE

1 pkg (4-oz) Jello vanilla pudding

1 pkg (3-oz) strawberry flavored jello

2 cups water

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1 1/2 cup whipped topping (Cool Whip or prepared Dream Whip)

1 cup sliced strawberries

1 baked 9" pie shell (cooled)

1. Combine the pudding mix, jello, water and lemon juice in a saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat until it boils. Pour into a large mixing bowl and cool. (The mixture will thicken as it cools).

2. Fold in the whipped topping and blend well. Stir in the sliced strawberries.

3. Pour the mixture into the pre-baked pie shell and chill until set (1-2 hours). Garnish with more whipped topping and a few strawberries.

TODAY’S SMILE

Mom and Dad were watching TV when Mom said, "I'm tired, and it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed." She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's lunches, rinsed out the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning.

She then put some wet clothes into the dryer, put a load of clothes into the wash, ironed a shirt and secured a loose button. She picked up the newspapers strewn on the floor, picked up the game pieces left on the table and put the telephone book back into the drawer.

She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry. She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom. She stopped by thedesk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out some cash for the field trip, and pulled a textbook out from hiding under the chair.

She signed a birthday card for a friend, addressed and stamped the envelope and wrote a quick note for the grocery store. She put both near her purse.

Mom then washed her face, put on moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth and trimmed her nails.

Hubby called, "I thought you were going to bed." "I'm on my way," she said. She put some water into the dog's dish and put the cat outside, then made sure the doors were locked. She looked in on each of the kids and turned out a bedside lamp, hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks in the hamper, and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework.

In the bedroom, she set the alarm, laid out clothing for the next day, straightened up the shoe rack. She added three things to her list of things to do for tomorrow.

About that time, hubby turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular "I'm going to bed," and he did.

TODAY’S WORD

rec·on·dite adjective

1. Not easily understood; abstruse. Synonyms ambiguous. 2. Concerned with or treating something abstruse or obscure: recondite scholarship. 3. Concealed; hidden

TODAY’S REFLECTION

As long as he sought the Lord, God gave him success.

2 Chronicles 26:5.

1.Successful people are dependent. They depend on the Lord to use their gifts in specific situations.

2.Successful people are less concerned with image than with accomplishment. God gets the glory. So many believe they must live up to a preconceived image of the "successful businessman." We are successful by being successful, not by living up to an image concocted by advertising executives.

3.Successful people are tenacious; they don't give up when an obstacle presents itself; they aren't vulnerable to criticism. They pray that the Lord will give the vision, stamina and perseverance to complete the projects before them.

4.Successful people focus on the goal, not the reward. They are winners, achievers and contributors. They strive toward the goal and leave the results to God.

5.Successful people do not accept all the credit. They realize almost every project requires more than one's personal effortstaff support. A successful person give credit where credit is due. Romans 16:14.

6.Successful people redeem failures. Failure can indeed be an avenue to success. Who hasn't failed? Only oneJesus Christ. If we place our trust in Him, we will be able to redeem failures into successes.
