ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

FEBRUARY 2ND, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them?

Abraham Lincoln

TODAY’S ACTION

Heal a wounded heart.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Weekends are a bit like rainbows; they look good from a distance but disappear when you get up close to them.

John Shirley

HAPPY FRIDAY

The gorgeous full moon was peeping out at me the past few morning in the northwestern sky when I went to work. .. It always reminds me just how little we are in comparison, all of us can see the same moon no matter where we live at. It rises and sets over each one of us. So if you happen to see it, think of me as I’ll be thinking of all of you.

My Dad was released from the hospital yesterday and is back home. I know he is very thankful for that.

I’ve got my red on today. Red for the American Heart Association and Red for Support of our Troops ! I always thought that red was my favorite color anyway!

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY IS…GROUNDHOG DAY !

The folklore of the groundhog and his shadow began in the 1500s with German farmers. The legend said if the groundhog saw his shadow and was frightened back into his hole, they should not plant their crops since there would be 6 more weeks of winter. Scientific studies over a 60 year period show the groundhog is right only 28% of the time - about the same as your tv weatherman.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is National Heavenly Hash Day.

Today is National Wear Red Day, kicking off the American Heart Association's "Go Red for Women" cardiovascular disease campaign

Today is Candlemas Day

Candlemas is an ancient festival marking the mid point of winter. Halfway between the shortest day and the Spring Equinox. It was the day that all the candles used in church were brought into the church and a blessing said over them The Christian church expanded this festival of light to commemorate the purification of the Virgin Mary and her presentation of the infant Jesus in the Temple.

1653: New Amsterdam -- now New York City -- was incorporated.

1863 - Samuel Langhorne Clemens decided to use a pseudonym for the first time on this very day. Now he is better remembered by the name, Mark Twain.

1886: Punxutawney, Pennsylvania, observed its first Groundhog Day. The annual trek to Gobbler's Knob started in 1887. Visit the folks at Punxsutawney and see what Phil is predicting this year. http://www.groundhog.org/

1998: President Bill Clinton introduced the first U.S. balanced budget in 30 years.

TODAY’S SMILE

This is a true story that happened in Japan.

In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan tore open the wall. Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls.

When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there because a nail from outside was hammered into one of its feet. He saw this, felt pity, and at the same time he was curious.

When he checked the nail, turns out, it was nailed 10 years ago when the house was first built. What happened? The lizard had survived in such a position for 10 years! In a dark wall partition for 10 years without moving, it is impossible and mind boggling.

Then he wondered how this lizard survived for 10 years without moving a single step--since its foot was nailed! So he stopped his work and observed the lizard, what it had been doing, and what and how it has been eating.

Later, not knowing from where it came, appeared another lizard, with food in its mouth. Ahh! He was stunned and at the same time, touched deeply. Another lizard had been feeding the stuck one for the past 10 years...

Such love, such a beautiful love! Such love happened with this tiny creature...

What can love do? It can do wonders! Love can do miracles!

Just think about it; one lizard had been feeding the other one untiringly for 10 long years, without giving up hope on its partner. If a small creature like a lizard can love like this... just imagine how we can love if we try.

TODAY’S LINK

I wanted to share a website with you that is a good idea to visit. It is www.familywatchdog.us

When you visit this site you can enter your address and a map will pop up with your house as the small icon of a house and red, blue, green, dots surrounding your entire neighborhood. When you click on these dots a picture of a person will appearwith an address and the description of the crime he or she had committed. I was really shocked at how many of these people! were in my neighborhood.

The best thing is that you can show your children pictures and see how close these people live to your home or school. This site was developed by John Walsh from Americas Most Wanted. Another tool to help us keep our kids safe.

TODAY’S WORD

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it [thorn in my flesh] away from me

II Corinthians 12:8

We do not know what Paul's handicap was, but he writes that although he pleaded with God, he was not healed. Nevertheless Paul went on to do great things in service to the Lord. Despite his handicap, he lived a most productive life.

When you're every thought is on your handicap, you can become irritable and depressed, not only making yourself and others miserable, but making your handicap worse. When you have a positive outlook, prayerful living can be productive and happy despite handicaps.

Remember what God told Paul: "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness " (vs. 9). Trust in God's perfect power!

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

If Candelmas Day (February 2) be fair and bright, Winter will have another flight.

Full Snow Moon is February 2nd. Usually the heaviest snows fall in February. Hunting becomes very difficult, and hence to some Native American tribes this was the full Hunger Moon

46 DAYS UNTIL SPRING !

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart

 Psalm 37:4

I Love You All !!!

Be Blessed !!!
