ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

FEBRUARY 5TH, 2007

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Charity never humiliated him who profited from it, nor ever bound him by the chains of gratitude, since it was not to him but to God that the gift was made.

Antoine De Saint-Exupery

TODAY’S ACTION

Be the subtle voice that helps another in need.

TODAY’S QUOTE

Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow. It empties today of its strength.

Corrie Ten Boom

HAPPY MONDAY

Back to work ! BRRRCHILL!

It seems as though my furnace is working double time trying to keep things warm around here. I kicked it up a notch just be a little more comfortable at home on Sunday. The below freezing temps are very chilling!

Lots of schools in Ohio are closed because of the severe cold we are suffering. I however, did not get a call telling me to stay home, so off to work I go!

Take good care all ! Stay warm !

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way!

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

TODAY IS…OLD SHOES DAY

The oldest known shoe was found in an Egyptian tomb dated 2000 B.C. It was a sandal made out of woven papyrus - the main footwear of ancient people living in warm climates. Egyptian soldiers went into battle barefooted, but the Assyrians made the first boot for their military about 1100 B.C. Greek and Roman soldiers eventually gave up the barefoot tradition and the boot business was born.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

1861 - Samuel Goodale of Cincinnati, OH patented the moving picture peep show machine. One put in a coin and turned a crank on the side of the ornately decorated box and voila, a flickering movie appeared!

1940 - One of the great classic songs of the Big Band era was recorded. Glenn Miller and his band played Tuxedo Junction at the RCA Victor studios in Manhattan.

TODAY’S SMILE

A story is told of a girl who was ugly. She became the target of cruel remarks from her classmates. She became bitter and vindictive.

One day her French teacher asked her, "What is wrong, little one?" "I am so ugly," the girl cried.

The teacher took her to her room and handed the sad little girl a round and brown thing that looked as ugly as the girl. She told the girl to plant and water it carefully. In time a golden Japanese lily grew out of that ugly thing.

The little girl then realized that beauty and fragrance are inside; that she, ugly on the outside, could share her inner loveliness and balm, and no one would even notice what had so bothered her.

As the adage reminds us, beauty is only skin deep; the radiance of character lies in our depth.

"The King's daughter is all glorious within"

Psalm 45:13
