 TODAY'S QUOTE

    HAPPY WEDNESDAY

 OVER THE HUMP DAY

Another cool day for us and then the temps start on their way back up!  It's been so nice to go outside and enjoy being there.    I started another Bible study and am putting my notes in my 'What's New at My House' journal and I started a craft journal 'Ma's Cupboard' .   Hopefully, both of these will help keep me on track!

Have a great day all !  Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS...CAN OPENER DAY

Tin cans were developed in 1810 for Royal Navy rations, but they forgot to invent a can opener. For years, soldiers opened cans with bayonets or rifle fire. In 1824, the cans carried by Arctic explorer, William Perry, carried the instructions, "Cut round top with hammer and chisel". A can opener like we know today wasn't patented until 1870. It had a cutting wheel that rolled around the rim of the can. It was improved in 1924 when a feed wheel was added. This method was used for the first electric can openers that went on the market in 1931 - and that same basic design is still used today

 And it's...

Saint Bartholomew Feast Day - He is patron saint of plasterers. If his feast day is fair and clear, a prosperous autumn is almost certain

TODAY'S SMILE

 Autumn

Autumn is a season for big decisions -- like whether or not it's too late to start spring cleaning

This autumn we can look forward to falling leaves and rising gas prices. We'll be raking it up while the oil companies are raking it in

Now, today’s lawn & garden tip. If you haven’t found the hedge trimmer yet, forget it. It’s almost time now to lose the leaf rake

Autumn is a great time of the year. Soon those ugly patches of dead grass in your lawn will be covered up -- with ugly patches of dead leaves

    TODAY'S WORD

microburst • \MY-kroh-burst\ noun

: a violent short-lived localized downdraft that creates extreme wind shears at low altitudes and is usually associated with thunderstorms

During thunderstorm season, microbursts as strong as 50 miles per hour can cause almost as much damage to crops and structures as a full-force hurricane

    TODAY'S REFLECTION

First of all, I ask you to pray for everyone. Ask God to help and bless them all, and tell God how thankful you are for each of them.   I Timothy 2:1

Intercessory prayer is very important, for not only are we unselfishly thinking of others, but their courage is strengthened by knowing that we are lifting them to the throne of grace in prayer

TODAY'S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER'S ALMANAC
