ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

MAY 30TH, 2008

TODAY'S THOUGHT

What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other?

George Eliot

TODAY’S ACTION

Look for an opportunity to make a positive difference

TODAY’S QUOTE

Now every field is clothed with grass, and every tree with leaves; now the woods put forth their blossoms, and the year assumes its gay attire.

Virgil

HAPPY FRIDAY !!

Here we are – the end of the work week once more and as usual I’m off to the camper. Weather wise and time wise I haven’t been able to make use of my laptop on the weekends, but I’ll take it along just in case.

We are supposed to warm up to 76 degrees today with chances of thunderstorms today and tomorrow. I’m hoping for the best.

Our office is still without a furnace/air conditioner and yesterday it was only 66 degrees outside, but 76 inside. Today we’ll be 10 degrees higher so I quite imagine it will be like working in an oven today. 86 is much too warm in an enclosed space with little air movement.

You probably won’t hear from me again til Monday morning so I’ll be wishing you a wonderful weekend.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

I’ve a prayer request from someone who has a close friend that she worked with who has been struggling with health issues related to tumors/cancer that they have found in her body She has been going through treatments for the past several years. However, recently she was told that her 'spots' have doubled throughout her body. She is a very caring, wonderful lady who is struggling to stay alive at this point. I will be praying and appreciate any other prayers for her.

As the Pentagon says the Army and Marine Corps report an increase in the number of troops suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, pray for those impacted in this way, asking God to bring healing and help. Pray for these men and women and their loved ones as they seek to deal with the trauma they have experienced. Pray for our troops as they serve faithfully, asking God to cover each one with His protection and care

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. I always pray in His Name ,Thy will be done Lord.

GOD BLESS YOU!

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TO REMEMBER…

I am in the hands of God, and in God’s time all things will be made well.

TODAY IS…TINY BIKINI DAY

In 1946, Paris designer Louis Reard was ready to introduce a skimpy, two-piece swimsuit that didn't have a name. At the same time, the US began peacetime nuclear bomb testing on a chain of islands in the Pacific Ocean known as the Bikini Atoll. Wanting media attention for his new design, Reard decided to use the same name. Four days after the first bomb was dropped, the first model walked down the runway wearing a bikini.

TODAY’S SMILE

THINGS I NEED TO KNOW

Don't sweat the small stuff, and remember, most stuff is small.

The most boring word in any language is "I."

Nobody is indispensable, especially you.

People are more important than things.

Persistence will get you almost anything eventually.

Nobody can make you happy. Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.

Live by what you trust, not by what you fear.

Television ruins more minds than drugs.

Sometimes there is more to gain in being wrong than right.

Life is so much simpler when you tell the truth.

There are no substitutes for fresh air, sunshine and exercise.

May you live life so there is standing room only at your funeral.

TODAY’S WORD

dilatory \DIL-uh-tor-ee\, adjective:

1. Tending to put off what ought to be done at once; given to procrastination.

2. Marked by procrastination or delay; intended to cause delay; -- said of actions or measures

Dilatory is from Latin dilatorius, from dilator, "a dilatory person, a loiterer," from dilatus, past participle of differre, "to delay, to put off," from dis-, "apart, in different directions" + ferre, to carry

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Lincoln’s words on the Bible:

In regard to this great book, I have but to say, it is the best gift God has given to men. All the good Savior gave to the world was communicated through this book. But for it we could not know right from wrong. All things most desirable for man's welfare, here and hereafter, are to be found portrayed in it.

Abraham Lincoln

And Jesus said to them, 'Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.'

John 6:31

There are times when we begin to feel "burnt out" and we just don't seem to perform as well as we have before. Jesus guided his disciples to get away from work for a little while.

This is good advice for each of us, for we don’t take enough time out for play Perhaps you enjoy a game of golf or tennis? Maybe you enjoy backyard sports with your children? If so, you are helping your body to stay healthy.

But if you dodge such activity, perhaps it would be good to lighten up and play, even if it is a quiet activity such as checkers or chess, or reading a good book. Playtime is especially important if your work is not something that you would have chosen.

Do you need to think about taking time out for rest and playtime? http://www.ourprayer.org
