ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

MAY 2ND, 2008

TODAY'S THOUGHT

The year's at the spring

And day's at the morn;

Morning's at seven;

The hillside's dew-pearled;

The lark's on the wing;

The snail's on the thorn;

God's in His heaven -

All's right with the world!

Robert Browning

TODAY’S ACTION

If the only prayer you say in your whole life is "thank you", that would suffice.

Meister Eckhart

TODAY’S QUOTE

Every morning is a fresh beginning. Every day is the world made new. Today is a new day. Today is my world made new. I have lived all my life up to this moment, to come to this day. This moment--this day--is as good as any moment in all eternity. I shall make of this day--each moment of this day--a heaven on earth. This is my day of opportunity

HAPPY FRIDAY !!

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR ANGEL

Who will be 5 years old tomorrow!

May the dear Lord bless you on your special day and always!

After work this evening I’ll leave for the camper so there won’t be a weekend newsletter. But it won’t be long and I will be able try out the camp Wi-Fi.

The laptop is working great and all my info is installed. They have yet to put up some tables and chairs for me to sit at. I’ll be sitting on the club house deck overlooking the lake, so that will depend on the weather for sure.

I’ll see you all again on Monday morning !

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

 Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU!

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TO REMEMBER…

I am in the hands of God, and in God’s time all things will be made well.

TODAY IS… STONE CARVERS DAY

Have you ever looked up and seen strange creatures clinging to the side of a building? Gargoyles have been around for thousands of years - a word that comes from "gargle" since a true gargoyle is a waterspout. Stone sculptors and carvers have been creating decorative works of art down through the ages. And, the Journeyman Stonecutters Association is the oldest active union in North America.

TODAY’S SMILE

Shirley continually complained that she didn’t make enough money, couldn’t afford the things she wanted, and therefore, wasn’t ever going to amount to anything. A counselor said to her, "You’re throwing your energy away complaining instead of using it to get ahead."

"But you don’t understand. The job is the problem, not me," Shirley countered. The counselor said, "Your low-paying job may be a problem, and your boss may demand too much, but if you are continually that upset, you are causing yourself more harm than either the job or the boss."

"What can I do?" she asked. The counselor said, "You can’t control your boss or the job, but you can control how you feel about them. Change your attitude."

Shirley took her advice. When she stopped whining about her life, people around her noticed. She got a promotion, and with her new job status, she was more marketable.

Within several months, she was transferred out of the department into a position with even higher pay and a more supportive boss.

Awful is a state of attitude.

Remember that a change in attitude will change the state of things!

ONE MORE…

Little three-year-old Robert was asked his name by a neighbor. "Robert", he replied. "Robert what?" she queried.

Robert looked puzzled. "What does your mother say after Robert?" Robert's eyes lit up."

"She says, Robert stop it."

TODAY’S WORD

condign \kuhn-DINE; KON-dine\, adjective:

Suitable to the fault or crime; deserved; adequate

Condign ultimately derives from Latin condignus, "very worthy," from com-, here used intensively + dignus, worthy.

 TODAY’S REFLECTION

You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.

Acts 18:1-8.

The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power

Ps 97(98):1-4. John 16:16-20

Situations involving grief and joy are being played out at any given time around the world as well as in our own neighborhood. While one family is celebrating a new-born son or daughter, another is agonizing over the death of a loved one.

On both the big scale and in individual lives, mourning and joy often follow each other. While many in this country may be enjoying prosperity and peace, only a few hours away by air people are involved in life and death battles, mourning spouses killed in war, their children dying of starvation.

There is no way of totally avoiding sorrow in our lives and it is difficult to completely ignore the grief of others. But the resurrection of Christ can give us a deep confidence that God did not create us or our world for sorrow and pain.

As we share the Lord’s journey, we remember that we share not only his suffering, cross and death—but also his victory over death
