JULY 17TH, 2006

TODAY'S THOUGHT

It takes a long time to grow young.

Pablo Picasso

TODAY’S ACTION

Live with hope in your heart.

TODAY’S QUOTE

If you like a man's laugh before you know anything of him, you may say with confidence that he is a good man.

Fyodor Dostoevski

HAPPY MONDAY !

Greetings from sizzle-ling Ohio

I spent most of the weekend indoors and it looks like I’ll be doing the same all week. It’s too hot for me out there.

I heard from the campers when they all returned home Sunday evening. Their campsite made it through all the storms and rain just fine as they are up on a hill, but many of the other campgrounds in the area were under water !

And DDIL# 3 sent out an e-mail with some cute pictures of their babe’s and I’ll post them in my journal page.

Back to work this morning and trying to keep cool!

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Big hugs straight from me to you!

TODAY IS…FARMER’S ALMANAC DAY !

The first issue of The Farmer's Almanac was published in 1792 during George Washington's second term as president. It sold 3,000 copies and cost about nine cents. Since then, it has come out once a year with useful information: tide tables for people near the ocean, sunrise tables and planting charts for farmers, recipes for cooks, and weather forecasts for everybody.

TODAY’S SMILE

As a distinguished matron approached the church entrance, a little boy stepped aside and held the door for her. "What a polite little doorman," she said as she walked through.

"Is there a tip involved?"

"Oh, no," answered the young man. "My mother taught me never to be good for money, but always to be good for nothing."

Life's Little Instructions

Every so often you push your luck.

Never underestimate the power of a kind word or deed.

Never give up on anybody--miracles happen every day.

Become the most positive and enthusiastic person you know.

Learn to listen.

Think big thoughts, but relish small pleasures.

Don't expect others to listen to your advice or ignore your example.

Opportunity sometimes knocks very softly.

Leave everything a little better than you found it.

Don't forget: a person's emotional need is to feel appreciated.

Never waste an opportunity to tell someone you love them.

Treat everyone you meet like you want to be treated.

Make new friends but cherish the old ones.

Don't use time or words carelessly, neither can be retrieved.

Judge your success by the degree that you're enjoying peace,

health and love.

Smile a lot: it costs nothing and is beyond price.

TODAY’S WORD

cap·tious

adjective 1. Marked by a disposition to find and point out trivial faults. Synonym critical. 2. Intended to entrap or confuse, as in an argument: a captious question.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for it...for no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord the church...

Ephesians 5:25,29

When we love, we indeed cherish, prize, esteem, treasure the object of our love. We appreciate that person for what he or she is, not for what we think we can make of him or her.

Certainly the sword of ridicule will not cure the person of whatever we think is the problem.

We are unique and it is that very uniqueness we can cherish in our family member or our friend.

O Father, soften our hearts.
