TODAY'S THOUGHT

Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small jobs.

Henry Ford

TODAY'S ACTION

Resolve not to magnify small problems

TODAY'S QUOTE

You don't have to be afraid of praising God too much, unlike humans, God never gets a big head.

Paul Dibble

HAPPY MONDAY !

It was a chilly but very sunny day yesterday and DD and I had a good time President’s Day shopping. Today I’m off to work as usual . My bosses are at a conference in Las Vegas til Thursday. So it will be a long week of 10 hour days everyday.

Besides checking in with my folks, the only thing on the calendar this week is Prayer Group on Wednesday evening.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS...GUM DROP DAY

Gum drops are one of those old fashioned candies everyone still loves. They were probably first made in Germany as a jellied candy. Sugar cooked at a low temperature plus gelatin kept it soft. Molding it into the familiar drop shape gave it it's name. They were the early version of the Gummie candies so popular today.

TODAY'S TRIVIA

Today in the U.S. is Presidents Day, honoring all former presidents, particularly George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, whose birthdays are in February.

To honor George Washington, today is National Cherry Pie Day

1792: President Washington signed an act creating the U.S. Postal Service. Letters delivered up to 30 miles cost six cents to mail. For letters up to 150 miles, postage was 12½ cents.

1940: MGM released the movie cartoon "Puss Gets the Boot," the first starring Tom and Jerry, though Tom was called Jasper. Jasper and Jerry were nominated for an Academy Award, but lost. Eventually, Tom and Jerry won seven Oscars for their creators Hanna and Barbera

1962: Astronaut John Glenn became the first American to orbit the Earth, aboard the Friendship 7 Mercury capsule

TODAY'S SMILE

One day in the Garden of Eden, Eve calls out to God, "Lord, I have a problem!" "What's the problem, Eve?"

"Lord, I know you've created me and have provided this beautiful garden and all of these wonderful animals, and that hilarious comedy snake, but I'm just not happy." "Why is that, Eve?" came the reply from above.

"Lord, I am lonely. And I'm sick to death of apples." "Well, Eve, in that case, I have a solution. I shall create a man for you." "What's a 'man', Lord?" "This man will be a flawed creature, with aggressive tendencies, an enormous ego and an inability to empathize or listen to you properly.

All in all, he'll give you a hard time. But, he'll be bigger and faster and more muscular than you. He'll be really good at fighting and kicking a ball about and hunting fleet-footed ruminants, and not altogether bad in the sack." "Sounds great," says Eve, with an ironically raised eyebrow.

"Yeah, well. He's better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick. But, you can have him on one condition." "What's that, Lord?"

You'll have to let him believe that I made him first.

 TODAY'S WORD

ad·mon·ish transitive verb ad·mon·ished, ad·mon·ish·ing, ad·mon·ish·es.

1. To reprove gently but earnestly. 2. To counsel (another) against something to be avoided; caution. 3. To remind of something forgotten or disregarded, as an obligation or a responsibility

TODAY'S REFLECTION

Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of one's friend springs from his earnest counsel.

Proverbs 27:9

It is indeed pleasant to smell a refreshing aroma. If we are to believe the writer of Proverbs, our enjoyment of perfume is nothing new. Note that in today's scripture, the writer compares the sweet aromas to the pleasantness of a trusted friend.

You may have many acquaintances, but "the earnest counsel of a friend" is of great value. May we always be that sweet aroma for our friends and family

From Daily Guideposts

It is very difficult to live among people you love and hold back from offering them advice.
