CHRISTMAS SEASON

For this is the message you have heard from the beginning: we should love one another....

If someone who has worldly means sees a brother in need and refuses him compassion, how can the love of God remain in him? Children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth.

1 John 3

May we offer love, not simply with words, but with loving actions, for and with others.

St. John Neumann

John Neumann was born in Bohemia on March 20, 1811. Since he had a great desire to dedicate himself to the American missions, he came to the United States as a cleric and was ordained in New York in 1836 by Bishop Dubois He labored in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Maryland. In 1852, he was consecrated bishop of Philadelphia. There he worked hard for the establishment of parish schools and for the erection of many parishes for the numerous immigrants.

 HAPPY THANKFULLY THURSDAY !

This gloomy weather just makes me sleepy. I’m in the hibernation mode again. It surely would be a blessing to see some sunshine ! I had a reprieve from a 10 hour day yesterday…Only worked 8 and ½ hours. Today should be a regular 8 hour day , but by the time I get home, it’s practically dark so it’ll be a good evening to stay in and keep warm.

I’ve got my new calendar partially filled in and it reminds me that there are lots of birthdays and anniversaries in my family coming up this year, so I’d better get busy. I haven’t made any plans for what I want to paint next and I need to get going.

There is never a dull moment at my house.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS...TAKE THE CAKE DAY !

Take the Cake" means to win the prize, but where did this saying come from? It's an American expression that comes from the South where they had cakewalking contests. To "cakewalk" meant to strut your stuff, so the person who did the fanciest dance steps got to take home the cake

TODAY'S SMILE

A man goes to his doctor and says, "Doc, I've got a terrible problem. I'm always forgetting things. My thoughts can be very important, but no matter how hard I try, I just keep forgetting them."

"That could be very serious," replied the doctor. "How long have you had this problem?"

What problem is that, Doc ?

Everyone has a photographic memory. Some don't have film

Walter, who is quite elderly is resting peacefully on the front porch or a nursing home in the country, when he sees a cloud of dust up the road. He watches a farmer approaching, with a wagon. "Good afternoon!" hollers out Walter. "Afternoon." says the farmer.

"Where you headed?" asks Walter. "Town." says the farmer. "What do you have in the wagon?" Walter continued. "Manure." "Manure, eh? What do you do with it?" "I spread it over my strawberries," the farmer says matter-of-factly.

"Well," says Walter, you should come over here for lunch someday. We use whipped cream.
