TODAY'S SMILE

A friend was in front of me coming out of church one day, and the preacher was standing at the door as he always was to shake hands. The Pastor grabbed my friend by the hand and pulled him aside and said, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!"

My friend replied, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor." Pastor questioned, "How come I don't see you except at Christmas and Easter?"

My friend whispered back, I'm in the secret service

TODAY'S REFLECTION

And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, 'Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachtham?' -- which means, My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

Mark 15:33

Many of us have times in our lives when we feel completely alone. Even Jesus, in his most painful hour, cried out. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed that he wouldn't have to go through the agony, but his prayer seemed to be ignored. Jesus could have easily escaped, for he knew what was ahead and there was plenty of time for him to evade his captors.

Yet he chose to be obedient and stand his ground.   If we have the courage, stamina and patience to stand tall and face the painful challenges, we shall have God's help in conquering the problems and bringing a triumphant solution, even when we are alone.
