St. Jerome

TODAY'S ACTION

Establish habits of faith that will hold you firm in unsteady times

TODAY'S QUOTE

Didn't we, like our grandchildren, begin with a childhood we thought would never end? Now, all of a sudden, I'm older than my parents were when I thought they were old.

Lois Wyse

THE LAST SUNDAY OF THE CHRISTMAS SEASON

Your light has come, the glory of the Lord shines upon you. Isaiah 60

The identity of Jesus is revealed to the Magi through their astrological craft; they respond with joy and come to the keepers ofGod’s special revelation to Israel to find out the details Epiphany is a large celebration, especially in Spanish speaking countries.

Things look different around the household: the infant Jesus in the manger now has a small gold crown and is wearing regal robes. The figures of the wise men have reached Bethlehem, completing the nativity scene

The custom of blessing the home on this day probably originated from these words in the Gospel, "And entering into the house, they found the Child with Mary, His Mother, and falling down they adored Him."

Today is the day to bless our house, you can do so by inscribing the initials of the three Magi (Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar) above the doors with the chalk. The doors are inscribed with the following: 20 + C + M + B + 06 The initials are separated by crosses and the year above the door. The initials CMB also stand for the words "Christus Mansionem Benedicat" which means "May Christ bless this house".

This inscription above the entry of our house should be a reminder to us that we should be with and go to Christ in all our comings and goings

HAPPY SUNDAY !

It’s the day to bless your spirit ! I’m off to church as usual this morning for my weekly dose of R & R . This will be a long week ahead as it’ll be the 1st full week of work I’ve had to put in for awhile. All those vacation days at Christmas and a holiday at New Years completely spoiled me.

Please join me in praying for our troops !

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need.

I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior

I’ll be praying for you all too!

Have a great day ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY IS...BUBBLING BATH DAY

Mix 1 part any type of shampoo (use a "tear free" baby shampoo for kids) to 2 parts plain water. Shake well. The bubbles will settle into a nice bubble bath solution. Pour a little under running water as you fill the tub, and.... voile'!

Your own bubbling bath!

TODAY'S SMILE

At a clearance sale, the wife of a federal district court judge found a green tie that was a perfect match for one of her husband's sports jackets.

Soon after, while the couple was vacationing at a resort complex to get his mind off a rather complicated cocaine conspiracy case, he noticed a small, round disc sewn into the design of the tie.

The judge showed it to a local FBI agent, who was equally suspicious that it might be a 'bug' planted by the conspiracy defendants. The agent sent the device to FBI headquarters In Washington, DC for analysis.

Two weeks later, the judge phoned the Washington office to learn the results of their tests. "We're not sure where the disc came from," the FBI told him, "but we discovered that when you press it, it plays 'Jingle Bells.'

TODAY'S WORD

de·cry transitive verb .

1. To condemn openly.

2. To depreciate (currency, for example) by official proclamation or by rumor

TODAY'S REFLECTION

My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior. -- for the Mighty One has done great things for me

Luke 1:47 & 49

These are the words of Mary, who is to give birth to Jesus the Christ. She was a young girl, betrothed to Joseph, but expecting a child that was not his. Disgrace could lie ahead of her, yet her faith allowed her to say that the Lord had done great things for her

If you have heavy burdens today, remember how the Lord has helped you in the past. Then tell him about your troubles and believe that he is helping you bear them. Don't take them back, but trust God to show you how to handle them.

When you live according to God's way, you glorify him.

Love your journals and wouldn't miss them each day, I get so much from them.  Thanks for the prayers for our troops -- my son-in-law just deployed to Afghanistan today for 7 months.  Last year he was in Fallujah.  God bless you and yours have a great week.  P. Trexler
