 TODAY'S QUOTE

There is not enough darkness in all the world to put out the light of even one small candle

HAPPY WEDNESDAY ! OVER THE HUMP DAY !

It was a fast Tueday and here we are sliding downhill into the weekend already! Work was really busy and I know today will be just as busy.    They've started repaving the main road at the end of our street so I had to come home by going down the street next to me...(at least I think that's what they were doing) it seems this will be a long project.  Hopefully they've worked it out so that we can still come and go.  It would be nice if they only take one block at a time - we'll see.

No new news from DS#2.  Hopefully things are improving for them. The news seems to indicate that help has arrived for the devasted states of Louisianna , Mississippi and Alabama.  Lots of work to do there.  Please keep them in your prayers.

Take good care All !

Have a great day !  Another wonderful one on the Way!

TODAY IS...Neither Rain Nor Snow Day

Today is the anniversary of the opening of the New York Post Office Building in 1914. This inscription appeared on the building:

"Neither snow nor rain not heat nor gloom of night staysthese couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."

Everyone thinks this is the motto of the post office, but they actually have no motto

 and...Today is Google Day.

On this date in 1998, Sergey Brin and Larry Page incorporated the Internet search company at Menlo Park, California. The test search engine was doing some 10,000 searches a day. A year later it was doing three million searches a day

TODAY'S SMILE

 Golf Is Good For You!

These men should have been considered some of the world's most successful
men. At least, they found the secret of making money. Now almost 80 years
later, do you know what became of these men?

1. The president of the largest steel company, Charles
   Schwab, died a pauper.

2. The president of the largest gas company, Edward
   Hopson, went insane.

3. The president of the NYSE, Richard Whitney, was
released from prison to die at home.

4. The greatest wheat speculator, Arthur Cooger, died
   abroad, penniless.

5. The president of the Bank of International Settlement,
   shot himself.

6. The Great Bear of Wall Street, Cosabee Livermore, died of
   suicide.

In that same year, 1923, the winner of the most important golf championship, Gene Sarazan, won both the US Open and PGA Championship.  He died in 1999 at the age of 95, played golf until he was 92, and was financially solvent at his death.

Conclusion: Stop worrying about business and other stuff and start playing golf!

and from the news...

Satellite TV is now available in cars. I guess cell phones weren’t distracting enough! Now you can actually watch TV while talking on your phone while driving

In a study:  Coffee is loaded with beneficial disease-fighting antioxidants. Hey, it's true. Last month I was sick. I went to Starbucks. A guy coughed on me. I was cured.

Labor Day was a weird holiday: no decorations, no cards, no flowers, no fireworks, no costumes. Obviously, the working class is just too pooped to party

TODAY'S WORD

per-fi-dy noun, plural per·fi·dies.

 1. Deliberate breach of faith; calculated violation of trust; treachery. 2. The act or an instance of treachery

TODAY'S REFLECTION

Nothing is better for a man then that he should eat and drink, and that his soul should enjoy good in his labor. This also, I saw, was from the hand of God.

 Ecclesiastes 2:24

The author of Ecclesiastes stresses that one should enjoy his labor. Awaken each morning asking God to bless your work and expect good things to happen. Then you're more likely to enjoy your work. An attitude of gratitude can bring beatitude.

Work can be ordinary or extraordinary. If we have a job which matches our talents and we get paid a good salary, too, then how fortunate we are. But George MacDonald cautions us: Mind, it is our best work that He wants, not the dregs of our exhaustion. I think He must prefer quality to quantity
