 HAPPY FINALLYFRIDAY

Long, short week-tgif !  The main road at the end of our street is now all graded down with big bumps all over to dodge where the manhole covers are.  Hopefully they'll begin filling it back in soon !  It's bad when the bottom of my car scrapes!    It's going to be one of those l-o-n-g days at work for me today - 10 hrs!  One of my bosses is in a golf tournament and the other is on vacation.  That leaves me to hold down the fort (again)  I guess I need the overtime $$$ to pay for that fuel pump I had to buy last week.  It'll take more than 2 hours, but every little bit helps.

Have a great day all !  Another wonderful one on the Way !

   TODAY IS...TEDDY BEAR DAY

The "Teddy" bear is named after U.S. president, Theodore Roosevelt. The inventor of this lovable toy was from Germany - Margarete Steiff. As a young girl, Margarete was stricken with polio. She spent her life in a wheelchair and enjoyed making toys for the neighborhood children. They were so popular, she eventually started a toy factory. Her stuffed bears had no name until a cartoon appeared in newspapers with Roosevelt refusing to shoot a bear on a hunting trip in 1902

   TODAY'S SMILE

One afternoon a man came home from work to find total mayhem in his house. His three children were outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house.

Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.

He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she may be ill, or that something serious had happened. He found her lounging in the bedroom, still curled in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went.

He looked at her bewildered and asked, "What happened here today?"

She again smiled and answered, "You know every day when you come home from work and ask me what in the world I did today?"

"Yes" was his incredulous reply.

She answered, Well, today I didn't do it

TODAY'S REFLECTION

...doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men...

   Ephesians 6: 6-7

When simple living is dedicated to the Lord, you will find many opportunities to do little things that will make people happy. Perhaps there's an elderly person who just needs help in getting rid of the garbage. Maybe there's a friend who's grieving and needs someone who will listen. It could be that just a short letter or a phone call could make someone's day brighter. These are just ordinary deeds that take very little time, but couldmake a big difference in someone's life.
