ON THE BRIGHT SIDE

NOVEMBER 10th, 2OO7

TODAY'S THOUGHT

God always gives His best to those who leave the choice with Him.

TODAY’S ACTION

If you take a step and it feels good, you must be headed in the right direction. We need to measure our progress against an inner compass, using our feelings, our comfort level, and our knowledge of ourselves as our guide...

Listen for that inner voice above the noise around you... It says softly that happiness is as simple as having something to look forward to in the morning... It says, in a low murmur you sometimes have to strain to hear, that now is the time to have fun.

Think about the last time you listened to your inner voice. What did it say?

TODAY'S QUOTE

Every oak tree started out as a couple of nuts who stood their ground.

HAPPY SATURDAY!!

I sat  with my morning cup of that good coffee and enjoyed not having to rush off to work. Saturdays always seem to fly by, but even though I have lots to do, I'm took my time and enjoyed my morning .

We had thought we'd go visit the 'Newlyweds' today and see their new home, but DD's hubby had to work and DS#5 and his wife are busy working at home today, so we've put off the visit til after Thanskgiving.

It is so hard to believe that week after next is Turkey Day. I've lots to do to get ready for that too. My boss always gives the employees a turkey so I'll be fixing one here and my children that are able to come, all bring a dish to share so we wind up having way too much food, but that's ok as everyone likes some leftovers to take home.

Our family feast will be the Saturday after Thanksgiving so that everyone can also go to celebrate the Holiday with their 'other halves' of the family. DS#4 and his family were just here for a visit so they won't be here and DS#2 is still away in the service, so we'll be missing a few, but will still have 17 around the table for dinner.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

GOD BLESS YOU!

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS…TOOTH PASTE DAY

The first known toothpaste was made by Egyptian physicians in 2000 B.C. They mixed powdered pumice stone with wine vinegar and brushed it on with a chewing stick. The Romans later used human urine instead of wine because they thought it whitened the teeth. They were right. Urine continued to be used in toothpaste and mouthwash until the 18th century. Modern toothpastes use ammonia to get the same cleaning action today.

TODAY'S TRIVIA

Today is Sesame Street Day, marking the debut on this date in 1969 of "Sesame Street," possibly the most successful children's TV program of all time. Teaching children while they play and have fun. What a concept.

TODAY’S SMILE

Bill and Merriam get along just great, except that she's a "backseat driver" second to none.

After years of putting up with her pestering, Bill finally decided he'd had enough and advised Merriam that he would no longer drive with her in the car. Later that day, on his way home from doing some Christmas shopping at the mall, Bill heard his cell phone ring as he was merging onto a freeway. It was Merriam.

By some slim chance, she had entered the freeway right behind Bill's car. "Honey," she said, "your turn signal is still on. And put on your lights; it's starting to rain."

And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; and the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

O my strength, I will sing praises to you, for you, O God, are my fortress, the God who shows me steadfast love.

Psalm 59:17

In any time of loneliness or sorrow, I invite the comfort and strength of God’s loving presence within to uplift me in thought and purpose. God is my comfort and my strength.

I never need to go it alone, for the presence of God is my constant companion. Acknowledging the Holy Presence, I am embraced in pure love and caring.

I feel, more than hear, the message: You are strong. You are confident. You are loved. I am honored to respond when family or friends need to feel loved and supported.

I encourage them and help them remember that God is their comfort and strength. God loves us all with a steadfast and enduring love.
