TODAY IS…GUY FAWKES DAY

On November 5, people in England celebrate a holiday called Guy Fawkes Day. Nearly 400 years ago, Guy Fawkes and other conspirators tried to blow up a British Parliament Building in 1605. After being apprehended they were convicted and beheaded in 1606. November 5th is now celebrated as the anniversary of the plot. Ever since, Guy Fawkes Day has been a time for merrymaking. The best part comes as darkness falls. Then, straw dummies are tossed into huge bonfires. Amid cries of glee, firecrackers pop and "the Guy" goes up in a blaze of fire.

TODAY'S TRIVIA

Today is Roy Rogers Day. The "King of the Cowboys" was born Leonard Sly in Cincinnati on this date in 1912.

TODAY’S SMILE

Drew and Timmy were brothers. One day Mom and Dad had to go into town, and Dad told Drew, "While we are gone I want you boys to clear away the dirty dishes, clean your room, and mow the grass."

When they returned nothing had been done. Dad was very upset. He asked Drew, "What have you been doing while we were gone?" Drew replied in a low voice, "Nothing."

Dad then turns to Timmy and asks, "What have you been doing?" Timmy replied, "Helping Drew."

TODAY’S WORD

sciolism \SY-uh-liz-uhm\, noun:

Superficial knowledge; a superficial show of learning

Sciolism comes from Late Latin sciolus, "a smatterer," from diminutive of Latin scius, "knowing," from scire, "to know." One who has only superficial knowledge is a sciolist.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

He said to them, "Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while."

I recognize that living a life of tension is one that will cut years off your life, and leave you blind to the movement of God in the world. Therefore all of us (especially those of us who trend toward the tense side of the meter) need to find ways to relax.

We have been created to be in relationship with the Almighty. When we take part in that connection, stress levels begin to go down, and a sense of peace begins to be felt. This peace will allow us to relax.

Recognize that you are not alone, and that you are a child of the living God. It's time to see the world as it actually exists. It's time to recognize that we are not alone.

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

 47 DAYS UNTIL WINTER !

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart

Psalm 37:4

May there be a miracle in YOUR life today and may you have the EYES to SEE it!

I Love You All !!!

Be Blessed !!!
