HAPPY WEDNESDAY!!

OVER THE HUMP DAY!

Yesterday was absolutely beautiful It certainly was an Indian Summer Day. The news says we may see some snow/mix by tomorrow. What a change. I managed to get out on my lunch hour and got a few more Christmas gifts. It was great not being freezing cold or wet while shopping.

I'm so excited ! I only get 1 hour for lunch so my time was limited, but worthwhile for sure. I may be almost done except for a few stocking stuffers. All the wrapping will come after Thanksgiving as next week I want to concentrate on getting ready for our Family Feast which will be on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

I will be wearing those layers again today. We have a high of 62 in the forecast.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

 TODAY’S PRAYERS

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

I have had the following sent to me by several others so just want to share it with you.

When you are making out your Christmas card list this year, please include the following:

TODAY IS…SPICY GUACAMOLE DAY

Holey Moley! - It's The World's Best Guacamole Recipe! Called ahuacatl by the Aztecs, avocados grew wild throughout Central America and Mexico as early as 900 AD. In fact, archeologists have found pottery with images of avocados from this time period. And they are SO good for you!

4 ripe avocadoes (must be ripe - peel and core)

2 limes (squeeze juice - fresh is best-not bottled)

6 green onions (the long skinny ones chopped thin)

2 small tomatos (diced)

1 garlic glove (smash it thoroughly)

Drop of Tequila

1/2 cup cilantro (chopped fine)

1/2 cup green salsa

1/2 teaspoon ground roasted cumin

salt and fresh ground pepper to taste

1/2 teaspoon chili pepper

Dash of tabasco

Mash the avocadoes with a potato masher. Using a fork, whisk in the remaining ingredients. Place the guacamole in a medium serving dish. Cover the entire surface with a layer of sour cream, so that there is no green showing. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top. Sprinkle on the olives. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least 1 hour before serving.

Serve with the Authentic Mexican Nachos

TODAY'S TRIVIA

Today is Loosen Up, Lighten Up Day, a time to remind everyone of the benefits of joy and laughter

Today is National Guacamole Day

Today is American National Teddy Bear Day.

Legend says President Teddy Roosevelt spared the life of a bear cub while on a 1902 big game hunt in Mississippi. Political cartoonist Clifford Berryman drew the incident and the "Teddy" Bear was born.

1954: Bill Haley’s first hit record peaked at #7 on U.S. music charts. It was "Shake, Rattle, & Roll."

1961: The Elvis Presley film "Blue Hawaii" premiered.

1995: Crayola announced it was replacing its food-scented crayons with new scents parents could be sure their children wouldn=t want to eat. Responding to parental complaints, Crayola replaced such scents as Chocolate, Bubble Gum, and Cherry with Dirt, Shampoo, and Cedar Chest.

2005: Private donations to victims of Hurricane Katrina were reported to be near the $2.7 billion mark in 11 weeks, close to the record $2.8 billion given to Sept. 11, 2001, charities.

TODAY’S SMILE

A little girl who suffered greatly during thunderstorms was told by her mother to pray when she was alarmed. One day at the close of a fearful storm she came to her mother with the information that praying during the danger brought her no relief.

"Then," said her mother, "try praying when the sun shines, and see if that will take away the fear."

The child did so, and when another storm was raging she said sweetly:--

"Pray when the sun shines is the best way, for I am not the least bit afraid now."

What a lesson we who are older might learn from this incident! How often do we stay away from our Master until the storms of life drive us to Him for shelter and protection!

If we could only give our best, our brightest days to his service, we would have no cause to tremble when the dark hours come on. How very much we miss by not having Jesus to go with us through all our earthly pilgrimage!

TODAY’S WORD

perfervid \puhr-FUR-vid\, adjective:

Ardent; impassioned; marked by exaggerated or overwrought emotion.

Perfervid is from Latin per-, "through, thoroughly" + fervidus, "boiling," from fervere, "to boil."

TODAY’S REFLECTION

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.

Proverbs 23:7

We cannot change certain events in our lives and sometimes life is unfair. If we allow that thought to control our minds, we will be filled with fear or anxiety or despair.

But we can become strong and clear minded with the help of God to triumph over any and all circumstances. You have the opportunity to learn God's lessons so that you will be ready for difficult times.

...if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things. — And the God of peace will be with you

Philippians 4:8-9.
